The Stoplight "switch" which activates the brake light signal, is a small plastic inverted switch. This switch is mounted above the brake pedal, usually, about 1/2 way up the metal of the pedal arm. It may have the wire disconnected, but, with the age of the car.................the switch may not even be moving, start there..

Hello.

I have a solution for you, as I see your same issue in my shop quite a bit...There are two possibilities:

You may have a broken wire. This is a very common issue.

Open up the trunk lid, and look at the hinge on the driver side. You will see a wiring harness, in a plastic tube, attached to the arm that holds th trunk lid to the car.... Remove the tubing, and follow the wires towards the back seat area. You are probably going to find a wire that has been broken, from the many actions of opening and closing the trunklid. Splice and resolder the wire, and you should be fine.

The other issue is the tallamp failure sensor may have burned out. This too is rather common. Open the trunk lid, and pull back the inner carpeting on the driver side of the trunk. Locate a small box (it will be white or blue), on a brace. The box is closer to the quater panel sheetmetal. Remove the box, and take it apart. If it looks or smells burnt, you need a new sensor.

Turn signal not working

TAIL LIGHT NOT WORKING

It can be faulty tail light bulb or its issue with tail light control switch or its wiring's are short.

Check the voltage at fuse slot of tail light.Do you receive 12 volt there. If not, then it says tail light switch is not receiving power supply.

I have a 1987 toyota 4runner and no running lights or dash lights . The tail light fuse is ok but still no dash lights or running tail lights break lights light up fine.

THE DASH LIGHTS ARE USUALLY CONTROLLED BY A SMALL THUMB WHEEL NEAR THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THE DASH. THAT IS A RHEOSTAT, THAT MAKES THE DASH LIGHTS BRIGHT & DIM. REPLACE OR BYPASS IT.

87' toyota camry stoplight switch

Look under the dash on drivers side .There is an electrical brake light switch mounted to the brake pedal lever.Should be two wires going to it.Unhook the connector and check for voltage. You should have 12 volts on one wire.Jump the two wires over with a paper clip,if the brake lights come on replace the brake light switch...Good Luck...
