check your track rods on steering. and ball joints, clunking is more like to be the ball joints these wear out and make this sounds and make handling problems, replace both sides at the same time, to check them you can jack up without taking the wheels and hold at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and wiggle the wheel, this will also check the bearing in the wheel any excessive play, and sounds when moving that part needs to be located and replaced. lower ball joints you will need to remove the wheel and at the bottom where the hub and ball joint is locate a bar on this gap and if it moves up and down when pressure is applied then this has gone.
I would say it sounds like cv joints need replacing.also check bushes and ball joints for play. If ok turn steering on full lock both ways.start with full lock on right turn pull away slowly if you get knocking noise you will know it's that side is worn and then do same on left turn on full lock.
Tiberg, sounds like needs some oil down in to lock its getting dry i had this u will find it works 3 in 1 oil will do also push key in and turn it on an of to loosen up lock a few times, trans is it auto or manuial, if auto probably tick over is to high shud b about 750-800 rpm but set till it just holds car steady no creeping back or forward, manclutch adjust ment worn slave cylinder or peadle adjustment good luck hope this helps
If either c/v boot is torn, likely you need to replace that joint (once torn or split, grease gets washed out, dirt enters, joint fails) If joints are OK, likely the hub bearing needs to be replaced.(listen out the window to hear which side the noise is on)
Sounds like it could be dry u joints. Kinda sounds like a squeaky bed? If it is you will need to get them replaced. Just greasing the old ones won't work.
