I do this almost daily, while working on or cleaning cars. Open drivers door, put key in ignition so that the chimes are dinging. Now, look at the latch on the open door, you can see a "U" shaped latch arm, using a screwdriver, pretend its the striker on the post, and push the latch arm back until it clicks twice. The dinging should stop, and the interior light will go off, just as if the door was closed. Now, if the latch on the rear hatch is similar, you should be able to "trick" it the same way.

Before you attempt to close the door(s) or the hatch, pull the handle as if you were opening it. The latch should pop back to it's "open" position. If not use the screwdriver to pull on it while pulling the handle. Do let me know if your now "IN THE DARK"!!

How can I change the rear brake lights on my 2004 Dodge Durango if the back hatch won't open

That might get a little dicey. This sounds like a very good time to disassemble the interior panel on that back hatch and get it to open, even if only from the inside.

2010 Dodge Journey interior lights turn on dim when in reverse, turn off when in drive. Passenger side back up light out but bulb is good. Plate lights go on dim after closing the hatch.

Check the ground for the backup light-I'll bet it shares a ground with the interior lights. When you put it in reverse,it is feeding 12v to one side of the bulb, and instead of going through the bulb to a ground,it is seeking a ground elsewhere(through the interior light). The lights are dim because it has created a series circuit,so the bulbs are running at a lower voltage.

How do i turn off the interior lights with the radio on and the hatch open on an '07 outlook for the drive in?

Sure. Take the bulb out while you watch the movie. When it's over, put the bulb back in. If it's too many lights to do that, you could try taping down the hatch's switch that turns the lights on.

2010 Hyundai Santa Fe Rear Hatch Won't Open. I already opened up the interior panel and trigger mechanisms are working fine. I think the latch itself is stuck, probably because I had my back window...

I'd love to know how this turned out as have the same problem with 2009 Santa Fe now.
Broken rear window has been removed but cant open the hatch.
I have removed the internal liner and all the lever rods are attached. A bit of glass inside the door and I have tried banging on the door to unblock it. Squirted CRC in the area and will leave until daylight and have another go.

92 4 runner HATCH ISSUE!

Turn on the rear window wiper . Try to get the wiper arm off the glass. There is a switch that will not let the window operate if the wiper is on the glass.

Interior lights

actually the problem is the switches for the doors and hatch get worn. the switch inside that sets the chime and dome lights. Open the door and look for the switch where the door meets the fender by the hinges. push each one in with your thumb. They should offer some resistance. and when you let go the button should come out back to original position. Check them all. even the hatch. look for any water or corrosion (green wires/ oxidized copper). Do one door at a time. I am thinking that seeing that it just started it is not a feature. But it may be a loose spring inside and eventually makes contact and shuts off.
