  • Hi, I can help. Please see the diagrams below for your timing marks.

  • The picture below is the crankshaft marks that need to be lined up before you remove the timing belt.

  • Please not that this diagram is good for both 4X4 and 2X4 2.0 Engine (which is the only engine Kia Sportage had that year).

    this is helpful but i need the timing marks for the cam shaft and the injection pump thats on the front and the words need to be better instead of blurry...sorry

        The only timing marks for the belt as you requested are on the diagram period. The "I" and "E" should be strait up facing the notches. There is nothing to do with an injection pump? for timing the vehicle listed which is a 1999 Kia sportage. If you after something else I will have to ask you to give me a little more detail because the second diagram I put up is it for your vehicle.

        Hi, I have looked all through All Data for you 1999 Kia Spotage and even a 1998 and 2000 just to make sure. As suspected, there is nothing mentioned about and injector pump timing make like their would be on say a VW diesel.

        I did find one more additional diagram concerning the pivot tensioner I will put up below.







        I look forward to your clarification because what you are requesting for your vehicle does not exist.

What is the timing markings for my 99 kia sportage 4 cy 2.0

heres a trick i use get two office style paper clips instal belt on one cam put on clip to hold belt get lined up with mark then hold it there while you line up other gear install belt and clip now you can put the belt on and know both cam gears are in time

Align marks on timing belt pulley and pump body.

Camshaft pulley alignment marks

  1. Align marks on camshaft pulleys with alignment marks on seal plate.
  2. Install timing belt. NOTE: No looseness should exist on the tension side and at the camshaft pulleys.
  3. Loosen tensioner lock bolt.
  4. Turn crankshaft 2 revolutions in direction of rotation and check that timing marks are still in alignment.
  5. Tighten timing belt tension lock bolt to 27-38 ft lb (32-52 Nm).
  6. Apply a force of 22 lbs to timing belt between camshaft sprockets.
  7. Belt deflection should measure 0.30-0.33 in (7.5-8.5 mm)
  8. NOTE: Replace tensioner spring if timing belt deflection is excessive.

  1. Install lower timing belt cover.
  2. Install upper timing belt cover.
  3. Install power steering drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  4. Install fan pulley.
  5. Install generator drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  6. Install A/C drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  7. Install splash guard.
  8. Install fan and fan shroud.
  9. Install 4 fan bolts. Tighten to 24 ft lb (33 Nm).
  10. Install fan shroud mounting bolts.
  11. Install fresh air duct.
  12. Connect hose to resonance chamber.
  13. Connect battery negative cable.
