There's a way to install a magnet in the column at the ignition to allow the key to work. My son did it on a 2000 Ford Focus and it worked fine. I do not know the details but surely a search would turn it up? don-ohio (:^)

shop around but it`s all you can do they have to reset securty and all it`s quite a process and takes about an hour and a half good luck

You will have to go to the dealer to get new keys and remotes with the microchip and have it programmed and cut there. VW keys are as you know not like typical auto keys that have teeth and as such they have to be cut with special equipment. Your car will also have an immobilizer that requires a code from the microchip in the key or a key fob remote to disable the immobilizer and this is something that has to be done at the dealership as there are very few locksmiths that handle this. Rough cost estimate is $300 per key with remote and work done.

Same thing happenned to me. Dealerships couldn't help, so I had to call Ford Motor Company... the gentleman on the phone was able to give my local dealership the code for security reasons. firstly the door lock will have to come out to get codes for new keys to be cut have 3 keys cut keys cost about 7 to £10 each then the programming to start the car this will take about an hour depending on ford dealer labour rates roughly 80 to £90 the same for stripping the lock £150 is reasonable trust me work for ford main dealer

I have dealt with this before and it was the key and it needed the key reprogrammed as you said you were told and it will require the Ford scan tool do set it up.I know it sucks but disableing it I dont believe is an option.

Look by the fuse box....you will have to get down on all fours, but it is in there somewhere. You will probably have to take the cover off of the fuse box.
