I had my fuel pump replaced in my 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500. The truck has the Vortec V6 engine and a manual transmission. After picking up my truck from the fuel pump being replaced, I noticed that 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears felt a little "loose". There was a lot of play in the gear shift only with these gears. The amount of play kept increasing over the next few days until the shifter actually hit the dashboard in 1st, 3rd, & 5th gears. I took it back to the repair shop and some bolts at the shifter into the transmission had worked their way loose. I did not have this problem before I had the fuel pump replaced. Is there any reason that these bolts would have been loosened during the replacement of the fuel pump? Does the transmission have to be dropped to get to the fuel tank? Thanks in advance for you help.
