Pull down the lever on the left side of the steering wheel which will in turn lower the steering wheel, then open the cover on the top of the steering wheel, lift open slightly not all the way, then you will see a white lever, press down the break then gently push down the white lever to put the gear in neutral, make sure you put the gear in neutral, remember you have moved the cover from the original position. Hope it helps. God Bless.
There was a different answer on a similar question that worked for me. There's a small plastic cutout by the gear shifter...pop that out with a key and stick the key in the hole. Push down and press the brake and then you can do it. I just now did it on a 2009. And I'm a girl. I also tried the answer above and didn't really see what he's talking about.
I bet you have it figured out by now lol.
I have a 2016 Honda Fit with push button start. I needed to use a thin flat tool, namely a kitchen knife, to pop out the plastic access port, which is located to the right of the shifter. Then I used a house key to depress the white plastic inside the hole. I pushed on the brake, and easily shifted the car to neutral

SOURCE: How can I put car in neutral if battery is dead?
What you have is a safety switch, wich is why when the car is running you need to step on the brake to release the shifter from park. the switch is electric, and therefore isn't working because your battery is dead. Now, for the good news. Next to your shifter there should be a little plug, or a slot about the size of your door lock key hole. Insert your key into the slot, press down lightly, and then you can take the car out of park. That is called your "shift lock release"
Good luck!
SOURCE: Battery Dead - How can I get the vehicle into neutral
i hate to say it, but you are gonna have to open the hood in the confined area and try to work with the area you have or call in whatever autoclub you use / the dealer and make it their problem.
actually you can buy a jump box that plugs into your cig. lighter and jump it that way. my jump box has the set up to do it that way. but check your owners manual to see if the car will accept that without damage.
SOURCE: battery dead on 2004 Honda had to be jumped now radio crashed
Any time battery is disconnected the radio has to have a code reentered. This is a theft prevention issue. You should have gotten the code if you bought the car new, if not call the dealer and he can provide it.
Re key less entry have no idea but could be same issue.

If you have jumper cables, connect them to the honda as if you were going to try to jump it off. Be sure to have your foot on the brake when trying to shift. You can also use a "Settings Saver" that plugs into your cigarette lighter. This will provide enough power to allow it to shift.

I have a 2016 Honda Fit with push button start. When my car battery was dead, I opened the small access port that is to the right of the shift knob. The access port is black plastic and is part of the black plastic piece that surrounds the shift knob. I used a kitchen knife to pop out the small plastic piece, then used a house key to push on the white plastic inside the hole. Then I pushed on the brake and shifted to neutral
