I have a 2006 Cadillac STS 3.6 V6. When I purchased it from the dealer on 8/8/11, there was virtually no oil in the engine. I put in 3 quarts of Mobile 1 synthetic and I only fill up with premium unleaded 100% gas. When I refuel (regardless of how much gas I have), the car will have trouble starting. It will crank, and sometimes won't turn over. The battery, alternator and starter are good. Now, it has stopped while I was driving and will not start. I was told it could be the injectors and to try using Seafoam, but I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Check for a sized engine. And a engine compression test will help pinpoint the problem . Call a mobile mechanic would also help. Thanks

Probably a crankshaft position sensor problem. Is the check engine light on, and if not, does it EVER come on? People sometimes do remove trouble lights to sell troubled vehicles!

SOURCE: I purchased an 06 STS

You should return the car to the dealer you bought it from
& let them solve the problems

Sounds as though it had issues & they just washed it & sold
it to you

You need to go through the entire car checking & working on
almost everything, when ever you buy a used car

At least diagnose what ever the current problems are
Can't use it like that

You can be told all kinds of things & waste your time adding
products that do nothing if you like

2006 Cadillac STS Cranks but no start Had the whole car rewired and still no start. Dealer said that there is not enough compression from engine.Don't have the money for a new engine. Any advice???

There are several things to look at and check for a no start situation. Did the dealer diagnose the wiring? to replace all of it? I would think that if all the wiring had to be replaced, it would have taken out some computers also. You have many on this car. If you don't have compression, it cold be timing. If the timing is good, then the rings are bad. This would cause major oil leaks. I would do my own compression test and check the timing belt/chain.

Where is the oil filter on sts v6

It is not visible from the top. It is on the back side of the engine. Visible from the bottom of the vehicle. Use a jack stand whenever going under your vehicle to be safe. Always engage the parking brake, and have an assistance watching you. Good luck.
