This is probably caused by a power failure to the DDCV ( dual climate control valve) or the valve its self has failed. Another common issue is a broken / corroded cable leading to the DCCV. You need to check power to the valve as the first step. A good auto elec will be able to check it out easily for you. If the valve has failed and when replaced it will still not work correctly due to lost power signal - this will be caused by control module, this unit can sometimes be repaired as the valve when it fails burns out the printed circuit tracks in the unit Hope this helps - good luck.

4.6 liter has one heater hose warmer than the other. may be plugged core,or is ther a fuse to climate control switch?

Look for a heater valve on one of the hoses if there is no valve i would say its a plugged heater core.

Heater temp on mercury '98 mountaineer only blows hot

Everything that is heat and cooling in a vehicle is controlled by vacuum from the engine. It appears to me that your blend door vacuum line to the temp control switch is either off or cracked/broken and not making things work the way you want/expect. It's the vacuum friend.

2001 Suzuki XL-7. Heater blows hot one side, cold the other.

No ductwork [to the lower vents] under the dash. They are part of the heater core / blower housing is integrated (all one piece).

After reviewing shop manual, we suspect that one of the three damper flaps is not positioning correctly; or debris has blocked one side (which makes more sense given the symptoms).

We're waiting for the temperatures to get back in the plus numbers to check out the physical arrangement.

Fully warmed up; blowing hot and cold; Suzuki XL-7

Its just a vent damper plate not operating, it's like a gate which controls the flow of air,,usually they are operated by vacuum, or cables.
Service center time, unless you are handy with your own repairs.
