How to take apart and replace a Saturn SL Wagon, 1999, left side front door mirror and repair movement cables. The mirror remaines moveable vertically but not horizontally.

Sedan, Coupe or Wagon ? Junction Block is under the hood at the front of the left inside fender area.
Fuse Block inside of car is to the left of the steering column under the dash. This is on the SL with 1.9 SOHC Sedan

Imagine you are the front seat passenger, just to the left of your left ankle is a door which opens out and exposes the fuse panel. When you look on the back of the door, it tells you what fuse is for what gadget.

some of these models have a small panel on the inside of door if you remove that you will be able to get to nuts holding the mirror , if yours doesnt have this then remove door panel,oor just pop panel out near mirror and get nuts off without removing the whole panel.

Start by removing the front door rear view mirror interior cosmetic piece.
Remove the 3 large nuts holding the mirror on and take it off the car.
Lift the door handle up and push the two small handle retaining pins out, take off the door handle. Unscrew all the bolts holding the door panel onto the frame, special driver needed. Lift the door panel up and away from the door. Reinstall in reverse order. If you are doing a back door, omit the mirror part.

The door handles are not repairable.You can either get a new one or go to the salvage yard and get a used one.

Ms Derry ,I would check the pair of shift cables and shifter itself before suspecting internal transmission problems.The cables attach to the shifter then runs to the linkage on the transmission.One cable is responsible for side to side movement as the other is for moving front to back(like 1st to second) Center console removal is fairly simple which requires mounting screw(4) removal on the front sides and in the rear cup holder.This gives you an opportunity to view the shifter and cable operation from above while this movement should also be appreciated at the transmission linkage meaning someone shifts the vehicle as another inspects proper movement at the transmission.If all this is actuating properly,you may need to tear down and inspect transmission but hopefully it can be rectified with external repairs mentioned...good luck

Your mirror is most likely black, just like all the other Saturns of that year. Knowing that, now is it power or manual? Now you go to ebay motors and search for a passenger side mirror of the right color and control. There are lots of them listed and all will fit all Saturn SL models 91-95. There is a little phillips screw holding in the cosmetic piece inside the front door at the front of the window. Unscrew that and you will see three larger nuts, take those off and the mirror will come off. Put your new mirror on the reverse order.

Unless the 1999 uses a different mirror from my '96, if it has an inside adjuster lever it's cables in the mirror. You can find aftermarket replacements for around $30 to $40 for Saturns.

Drain Trans,Remove lower ball joint nut & separate the knuckle from ball joint.Remove 30mm axle nut & gently pry out the axle from trans then tap out axle from hub.

take fuse out
