Sounds like the ignition interlock at the transmission switch is out of adjustment or faulty. Bypass the key switch, at the starter, if it now cranks, it's in the interlock switch or the ignition switch.
Try these easy things...take off clean and reconnect the battery cables, take to Auto Zone for a FREE computer hook up. More than likely if the battery hook up doesn't work it's the oxygen sensor.
Assuming the terminals are hooked up correctly, are your cable ends corroded? Are you sure the fittings are clean and tight? If it was hooked up backward check your fuse box and hope it only fried some fuses.
