Mine is a 2002 Grand Cherokee Limited, but having same issue with Malfunction Light coming on for no apparent reason.

Is there a way to reset this myself rather than bringing to an auto center? Hate to pay money just to turn off a light!

Yes it can be caused by low quality fuel, and your gas cap not being installed properly. Best bet is the gas cap, so take it off and screw it back on. Then take your vehicle to autozone and hook up diagnostics to clear your MIL.

The mil light does not normally come on for no reason. When it does come on its because the ecm has some incorrect values that are being received from the engine sensors. Even though the mil light may come on, the car will still be drivable because the system will use defaults setting to run from. If the mil light is on, there is a problem. If you do go to a parts store to have them reset the mil light, it will turn back on if there is a problem. Get the trouble codes from the vehicle when it gets scanned and that is the best place to start.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6. Getting a P0320 after installing a timing chain with no start.

Question edited for clarity.

The timing is messed up. Normally it has to be TDC on the Compression Stroke of Cylinder 1. It is a FOUR stroke engine so there are 4 lots of TDC. Or you lock everything using a timing kit, which locks the crank and the cam sprockets..

A P0320 code indicates an issue with the signal that indicates the speed of the engine. This means that the ECM (engine control module) doesn't know where the crankshaft or camshaft is, so it isn't able to distribute fuel or fire spark plugs at the right time.

What does code 1-p0650 mean?

P0650 Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Control Circuit Malfunction

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is located on the instrument panel. When the ignition switch is turned ON without engine running, MIL will light up. This is a bulb check. When the engine is started, MIL should go off. If MIL remains on, the on board diagnostic system has detected an engine system malfunction.

Possible Causes:
  • Harness or connectors (MIL circuit is open or shorted.)
  • MIL bulb may be faulty

    Malfunctioning Indicator Light still on....

Check the injector for proper voltage. Check the cam sensor,,,,,DO NOT remove it unless you index it to the block. generally, a malfunction of the sensor will affect all cylinders, PS: you did check to make sure there is adequate spark at #1 plug, right?
