Fuel line clogging. Change filter/s and clear fuel pipes from tank to engine. If you have rubber pies in the pipe length rplace them too.

Get a oil can the thumb operated type and squirt some oil down the petrol pipe and make sure pipe is upwards so the oil runs into the pump then leave for a while to wet the valves in the pump then crank engine to make sure petrol comes up or just refit the pipe and pour some petrol down the carb and watch it go

Car will not run unless gas in carb

Sounds like the fuel pump is bad. The engine is just not getting fuel unless you pour it in the carb.

My 1996 camaro rs wont start it ran fine the night before it kicks over starts really weak for a half second then dies

Replace the fuel pump relay
This will work for you
The fuel pumps prime comes from the third wire off the Oil Presure Switch
When oil pressure is achieved the computer shuts off that circuit and turns on the relay for the pump.It takes only a few seconds for the oil pressure to be achieved so that is why your engine dies out almost instantly

I have to use starter fluid to get my truck running and than when running it will die in idle and not restart without adding more starter fluid? what can i do?

It sounds like it's not getting fuel. Are you in a cold climate? The gas line could be frozen. You can check the fuel pump by disconnecting the gas line at the carb, you may want to put a length of hose on the line and catch the gas in a coffee can. Then have someone crank the engine while you watch to see if gas squirts out of the line. I wouldn't use too much starting fluid, you can damage your engine, pour a little gas in the carb instead. Also, on a truck of that age the gas line could have a hole rusted in it between the tank and the fuel pump. If that's the case the pump will not pull the gas out of the tank it will draw air instead. It could be the fuel pump itself. If you have a good stream of gas to the carb then the problem is in the carb. It could be the needle valve is stuck shut, take a screwdriver and lightly tap on the carb, that will sometimes jar the needle loose. If you have gas to the carb it could also be clogged jet inside the carb. I you hold the choke partialy closed will it stay running then?

Not getting fuel to carb.already changed fuel pump and fuel pump relay will start by pouring gas in carb

If the car starts when you pour gas into the carb. The fuel pump is defective. Or the fuel filter is stopped up.

Fuel pump problem

The vehicle is a 1950? If so it will have a strainer in the tank. You can remove the gas cap, the supply line to the pump and blow compressed air back to the tank. It will blow this strainer off. If you do this then you will need to install an in line filter to catch any trash before the carb. Also sometimes it is hard to get a mechanical pump to pick up fuel after replacement, so it may be necessary to pour a small amount of gas in the carb. Good Luck.
