your thermostat was probably stuck open or the spring is worn out. this does not allow water to stop long enough in the radiator to cool sufficiently. try installing a new thermostat.

How do you change the thermostat in a 1998 Rodeo

Follow the upper Radiator hose from the radiator back to the motor. remove the hose on the motor end and then remove that coupling that it was attached to. The thermostat is under that coupling. Remove the old seal and any remnants of that seal, put the new thermostat in place, put the new seal in place and bolt the coupling back down and reattach the hose, top off the radiator and test drive.

Heater only blows luke warm air even after driving it for half hour. 1994 isuzu rodeo

Have you changed your themostat to a winter temperature range. If so it may be faulty - stuck open. Remove rad cap when cold and start eng. - (be sure rad is full) water should not start to circulate in rad until thermostat opens at its designed temperture setting as seen through rad opening.

1999 isuzu rodeo no heat the temp reads cold

The water temp (coolant temp) is cold all the time? Thermostat stuck open. Replace, not good for car. Computer can't adjust well to that and will cause fuel economy issues, never allow car to warm up properly. Opposite of thermostat stuck shut causing overheating. If the water can't be restricted enought to heat up and then be maintained at the correct temperature your car is not operating efficiently, won't pass smog I'd assume, etc. Thermostat is at end of upper radiator hose in thermostat housing. Two bolts to remove. Pop out thermostat and see if its stuck open. It'll have a gap if it is and it will be shut if not. You can boil water vigorously and hang your thermostat in it with a wire or something and watch it. It should move open from closed at a noticeable rate. When removed after fully opening, it will close as it cools. If it doesn't move and is stuck or moves EXTREMELY slowly it's done. Replace gasket, replace thermostat, light coat of sealant on gasket if you wish and torque down evenly. Replace lost coolant. Hope this helps.

92 isuzu rodeo overheating still

hey
u says that u didn't replace the thermostat yet
Your thermostat is sticking. DO NOT DRIVE if the car overheats, you can do some serious engine damage, if you haven't done so already. Get the thermostat changed out immediately.

What happened is your thermostat is sticking. It was stuck and you saw it overheat (and should have stopped immediately). The added pressure from having a stuck thermostat pushes the fluild into the overflow.

The temperature may have gone back to normal if the thermostat "finally" opened. However, since the thermostat is sticking, it is unreliable and I would get it replaced.

Driving when the engine overheats can easily cause gaskets, such as the head gasket to fail and heads to warp. If this has occurred, you're looking at a new engine.
