I have a 1997 honda accord need diagram on setting my timing marks,so for i have removed the old timing belt.I then replaced the belt with the crankshaft mark straight up with marking on engine block,my camshaft marking also straight up with engine head how ever,engine will not start or make any starting sounds.please reply asap.

IF U BROKE THIS BELT WHILE DRIVING U HAVE BENT THE VALVES IN THE ENGINE, THIS IS WHAT IS CALLED AN INTERFERENCE DESIGN ENGINE, THAT MEANS WHEN THE TIMING BELT BREAKS THE PISTONS HIT THE ENGINES VALVES

hi..as you look at the engine, the left camshaft pully should have the I alligned at the top with the mark on the cover, as the camshaft pully to the right with the E should also be at the top aligned with the mark on the cover, and the crank should have its mark also at the top ( the cut out behind the pully ) should line up with the mark on the casing i have a diagram if you want it...hope this helps

You can count the number of notches on the Belt giving you the number of chain links between the Front and/or Rear Camshaft Marks to the Crankshaft Sprocket.
