Many earlier cars will have the pre-wiring installed but not the phone option. The easiest way to check is to contact the dealership give them your VIN number and they will tell you. If you have Bluetooth installed. Hold the radio button marked with a phone for about a second, the display will change to indicate xxxxx or 'No Phone'. If the latter is the case then it is most likely that you do not have the option installed
I purchased a 2005 S-Type Jaguar recently and it is Bluetooth capable. I have synced my cell phone to it and it has accepted it. I can call out and it rings and I can hear the person on the other line. The problem is that they cannot hear me. When I start the car, I get a messages that says "Mute and replace handset to continue hands free call or replace handset to end call." What does that mean??? Please help.
i have a 2004 xjr with the telephone armrest cradle. The problem is even though i have the factory phone it's not E911 compliant. As a result when it was accidently deactivated it can no longer have service. Be on the lookout for another phone that will fit. Good luck ---- I read on a blog that the CRAVE will work by verizon but have not looked into it yet.
