Hi
When driving in slow traffic my BMW starts to accelate in a high mode and it goes into safety mode? The automatic transmission was rebuilt. What could be the problem that it shift into safety mode when in slow moving traffic?
You could have a faulty sensor or a loose connection to said sensor. your trans control module needs to be checked by a diagnostic scan tool at a shop there they can check the module and see if there is a fault in you drive train. i doubt it's an internal problem with the trans....please rate this....thanks

Hi there.
Well because its a auto box you could have a band or pump problem which is in the gear box and is bathed in auto matic fluid oil and that could be your problem as the bands do wear down fast on a lot of cars and BMW with there power that could be you.
So take it to a auto box people and get it checked out.
have a pressure test done on the cooling system to check for leaks. have a flow test done on the radiator to check for blocked cores. Have a compression test done to check for head gasket or cracks. If you have a viscous fan hub on the fan then replace it if the heating is indicated at stop lights and slow traffic. If automatic check that the transmission oil temperature is not overheating and putting that heat into the radiator from the oil cooler in the radiator tank
this is the check engine light does it come on then off? did it stay on? if this light is comming on any one of a hundred or more thing can cause it. from a loose gas cap to a sticking sensor. you might want to have it hooked to a computer to see what is causing it might be a minor problem like low washer fluid and it could be the start of a serious one. these lights remind you of scheduled maintinance, low fluids, oil changes ect depending on the manufacturer standards.i would check all of the fluids and if they are ok then get it checked better to be safe than sorry
You need to make sure you have a good drive belt and verify that the tension is working,if all seems normal then get the alternator or the wiring to it tested.
If you drive an automatic and it starts to judder at low speeds than that means you transmission isn't down shifting as the speed is reduced. In the first instance you should get your transmission oil changed.
Hope this helps and please don't forget to rate me.
