Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You usually hear clicking when the battery or connection is bad. Since you hear nothing and you have interior power, it is not the battery, alternator, or connection. It appears to be a bad starter, starter solenoid, ignition module, or lock cylinder. Has you key been getting stuck recently? Ever? I would suggest finding your starter and hitting it. When you mess with the panic button, vibrations can trigger the starter, therfore starting the vehicle as you have said. Also, the security/alarm can cause a vehicle to not start also. But first, try hitting the starter. Do you have an alarm light on? Have you tried entering your security code? Let me know please and thanks.
Yes you want to replace the starter as soon as you can. It can last a day or two, even a few weeks. But eventually, hitting it will no longer work. If it just started, you may have a few days, but change it as soon as you can so you don't get stranded. When you look at it close, make sure it is not a loose wire. Take off the hot side battery post before you change it also. If not, it can shock you because it is connected directly to the battery.
You are very welcome.
