Hi. I have a 2006 Toyota corolla that is showing P2716 error code. Itis the ECM that needs to be replace according to Toyota Bulletin.Unfortunately warranty is out by 3,000km. What is the estimated priceof the ECM and does someone know where it would be best to get it(PRICE WISE).

The ECM is under warranty for 80,000 miles or 8 years. My 2005 just had that issue and I had 76,000 miles on it. Toyota paid for teh towing, parts, and labor.
Your best bet is to get a used ecm form a salvage yard it should cost you about 200 dollars that is far cheaper than going to a dealership or a parts store. generally that is what i do when i replace ecms. there are plenty of wrecked vehicles and the ecm is good in them so why pass it up to get a part that cost brand new about 1500 dollars.. goodl luck. please rate this
I have a 07 Corolla and the engine light stayed on on Thursday night. I brought it to dealer yesterday and they said they need to replace the ECM. Lucky I have extended warranty, otherwise it may cost me CAD$1,500. I will buy extended warranty next time when I buy a new car for sure.

OMG 1500 dlls!. Thing is I would need an ECM that has the corrected solenoid values. Corollas from 2005-07 have this problem and it has been bulletined. Man I think I am out of luck this time :(
Ok, I managed to get the warranty made good. Part was going to be $989 USD, I suggest that everyone with a Corolla 2005-07 go and have this replaced regardless of it having coming up. Toyota will replace it at clients request.
I just had my 07 Corolla repaired for this. The ECM module caused complete loss of power at any given time. Accelerator did noting. Very dangerous. I only had 6000 miles left on the 36000 mile warranty. Fortunately I did not have to pay or it would have been $1300 on a 20month old car! Toyota should be forced to inform all buyers of these models. I now have serious concerns and wonder if I shouldn't trade for a Hyundai with 100k warranty.
I had exact same problems. I was driving about 65 miles per hour and engine shut down. I believe the warranty for the ECM or EUC is about 5years/100000 miles. unforturnately, I had to replace the ECM twice. I hady 61000 miles and I didn't have to pay anything both times. I bought my car in march of 2006. If you car is less than 5 years old and under 100,000 miles, your dealership should take care of it.
I was driving the other day. The engine light came on...when I noticed it, the battery and then oil lights came on. Then the whole thing shut down - I just made it safely to the side of the road. I had it towed to a nearby garage and they diagnosed it to be the bad ECM. Since it was under warranty, I had it towed to Toyota. They knew all about it! So if it's a known problem, why aren't they recalling? Luckily I was on a side road, but if it had been a highway there definitely would have been an accident! It's going to take them almost a week to fix it once they get the part.

Forward in time... I got the same problem on my corolla 05. I tryed to change ECU from the scrap yard.. No luck. The car could't start at all. It needed a programing on ECU which i dont know where to get it..So my solution for now is the dealer which is going cost me 800$(canadian) and a little bit of warranty. (time is too bad for Toyota now - so i'll try to get something from that)
