SOURCE: buick lesabre nightmare

Need to get a scan tool and look at the data stream while it is running for alot more info. Also any trouble codes.Sounds like initially, the engine isn't getting any fuel.I would have a pressure gauge connected to the fuel rail on the engine,so i could monitor the fuel pressure while all this is going on.Items to look at on the data stream would be timing, what timing is the PCM commanding for the engine. Also, have you checked for continuos power feed to the coils during this no start condition, and fire at the plugs while cranking. You could possibly still have spark, but maybe it is extremely weak?I have seen bad ignition switches cause weird problems before too. Many things power up through the ignition switch, just a thought.Have also seen bad PCM's cause strange problems..38 volts is a little on the low side for GM.Usually see those at,at least .50 and up,and rise steadily while pressing the throttle,up to just under 5.0 volts.Potentiometer with 5 volt supply.Vacuum leak can be checked with engine running at a steady idle speed, spray brake cleaner all around the intake manifold and listen for engine speed change.

SOURCE: i can't give my jeep much gas or it will backfire

Have your fuel pressure checked. It may be a bad regulator.

Try cleaning the throttlebody and air filter.

Check your spark plugs, coil and wires.

Check and make sure all of your injectors are clean.

Also you may want to check your o2 sensors. You can unplug them and drive a bit. If the problem goes away then they need replaced.

I have a 91 Buick Regal it will not start i change the harmonic balance fuel pump fuel filter

Do you have more info on what it's doing or not doing? i.e. Does it turn over/crank? Are there any backfires while cranking? Does the starter just click? Is there fuel pressure? Does the butterfly/choke open/close? Are you getting a strong blue spark at plug or a yellowish one?

1989 Buick intermitent engine problem Buick Regal 3.1 V6 8th vin. T in nostart condition no fire @plugs no fuel pressure when cranking . Replaced : crank sensor ECM Ignition module ignition switch...

You did'nt say if you have had the car (Scanned) to see if the engine control Module has stored any fault codes. You say it runs 20 miles or so before it quits. After cooling does it alawys start back up? What have you been doing to get it running again? The ECM can warm up and quit. It'll get an Troblem code about though. The no spark at the time sort of removes the Cat converter overheating and the ingtion Module ( (the coils are mounted to it). Something getting too hot is likly. Crank sensers and cam sensers both wil do this the crank senser is on the back of the block just above the oil pan. The cam sewnser is underneath the power steering pump and the connector going to it is on top of the front valve cover on the passenger side. Crank sensers will not code and still be bad. Computers if they come back on ever they will code most any problem and the code name is Quad driver failure.

My 98 regal gs kept shutting off. I replaced the fuel filter and same thing. Had it towed to r/s. They replaced the fuel pump but tech is not satisfied with fuel pressure. Ugghhhhh what could it be I've...

You need to ask the tech exactly what the fuel pressure readings are. The specification is: 48 to 55 Psi. with the key on and the engine not running. It will be 5 to 7 Psi lower with the engine running. It should also hold steady (key on, engine off) for at least 5 minutes without dropping off. If this is ok, then your problem is not caused by fuel pressure. Fuel pressure, even if it is a little low, will not normally cause your engine to just shut off. It will cause it to run poorly and not have any power during acceleration.

If the fuel pressure is not meeting the criteria above, the most likely cause would be a bad fuel pressure regulator, in which case, the fuel pump was probably misdiagnosed to begin with.

Your vehicle is most likely equipped with a 3.8L engine. (You didn't mention engine size) If so, a very common cause of stalling is a bad Crankshaft Position Sensor. I have also seen many with damaged wiring harnesses to the Crank Sensor. If this is the case, You can wiggle and tug on the wires and make the engine stall.

Car starts but won't stay running it's a 99 buick Regal GS Supercharged

CHECK FUEL PRESSURE IT SHOULD BE 41 - 47 PSI. IF NOT REPLACE FUEL FILTER.IF NO CHANGE. REPLACE FUEL PUMP.IF FUEL PUMP IS GOOD.YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE A INTAKE LEAK OR SPARK IGNITION PROBLEMS.ALSO USE A SCANNER TO CHECK FOR FAULTY SENSORS OR THEFT DETERENT PROBLEMS.
