Just bought a very nice coupe deville with 90K miles. Got it home after driving it 35 miles, car sat for about 45 minutes, started it back up and picked my son up from school about 7 miles away, it sat at home for about 20 minutes before my son went to take it for a ride. It would not start. Turning the ingnition, all the lights on the dash were on but it produced nothing. Not even a noise. Checked the battery connnection and made sure the shift lever was in park (tried neutral as well) all seemed fine. Anyway he went out about 20 min later to try it and it started right up, he took off and drove to a friends house about 5 miles away and they went for a test drive. He arrived home, shut the car off and tried starting it again and it was fine. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks
The first one is your security light on?
I got a 1992 cadillac deville and it wont start all the time. I got a new key for it thinking it was the chip in the key, but that was not it. I tried to jump across the cylanoid and that did not work. I know the starter is good. I then went and cleaned out the ignition thinking it was dirty becasue the car has been sitting for awhile. What do you think?
It has nothing to do with either of those things its your security wire that is connected to your ignition and it runs to the computer connected to your computer module that is under your dash. I had the same problem I was told that the wire breaks in the ignition a lot because its connected to the ignition by 2 smaller wires that is glued to the ignition. You have 2 options with this problem tak your car to the dealer or any place that knows how to change that wire and reset your computer so the key will work. But that is not an cheap job the price ranges from 100-250 dollars. But it consistly keep happening. Or you can find someone that stills know how 2 bypass the wire so the problem will no longer exist. Everything will continue to work like alarm and stuff just not the key part. The price of this is from 25-50 dollars

1992 Cadillac Coupe Deville is having starting issues. I use the car once a month. I need to have it jump started to go somewhere and before I leave my destination for home I also need a jump start. The battery and alternator have been tested and are both good. I have been told that I need to drive it longer distances. Is this really the case?
