My 1995 Buick sometimes does not start and I have to spray some starter fluid in it to start it. What causes this please?

Question edited for clarity.

Fuel / Air mixture delivery issue if starter fluid gets it running.

Clean Throttle Body and MAF.
Check Fuel Pump pressure.
Clean fuel injectors.
Check spark plugs for condition and gap.
Make sure air filter is clean.
Battery voltage 13.2 volts

It helps to know the model!

I have a 2002 Cadillac Deville. I changed the fuel pump, sparyed starting fluid into intake and it started right up and stayed on for maybe 3 seconds. So I guess my question is what else could it be?

Fuel Pump Relay
Fuel Filter
Injectors
Electrical Issues to the injectors

Its definitely fuel related if it goes off starting fluid, your having a delivery issue.

I have a 93 honda civic it starts when it wants. changed start, battery, distributor, spark plugs & wires. popping the clutch sometime works and sometimes it doesnt.. please help

Test fuel pressure with gauge (free loan-a-tool from many parts stores). When it won't start might try small shot of starter fluid. If it starts then it is likely fuel system issue, if not check spark.

2000 ford expedition 5.4 litter 4x4 Eddie baur with air suspension starting problems sometimes it will start now it won't start at all it cranks .

IF IT WILL RUN WITH STATER FLUID YOU HAVE A FUEL ISSUE. SINCE PUMP SOUNDS DIFFERENT I WOULD START THERE. CHECK FOR VOLUME & PRESSURE ON FUEL RAIL IF IT NOES NOT THEN THE PROBLEM IS IGNITON, CHECK FOR SPARK

Turns over and over can hear fuel pump come on will start with starting fluid and runs great but when shut off for a little while wont start again only with starting fluid

If the starting fluid works then you have a fuel pump or a fuel pump relay issue. The fuel pump relay allows the pump to come on for about 2 secs and prime the fuel system. Once the engine starts then the power to the fuel pump runs through the oil pressure circuit.
If the car starts on starting fluid and then continues to run... I would lean toward a fuel pump relay issue. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

91 camaro won't start 3.1 6V. Changed fuel pump, injectors, & ICM, has spark & will start with starting fluid, then die. But will not start and run. It cranks over, but won't catch. Security light...

Is the fuel filter ok? - fuel pump ok? Sometimes a new fuel pump is faulty. You may need to check your fuel pressure. Could even be a plugged fuel return line. PS be careful using starter fluid - it can be hard on an engine. Le t m e know. Thanks

Truck starts sometimes and sometime it does'nt

are u aware that the fuel pump and the fuel pump connector cause this problem in this year? replace both and the problem will go away, to verify the issue spray starting fluid into the intake next time it fails to start, if it starts then the pump and pump connector to the fuel tank are the culprit.
