Sounds like the parking pawl inside the transmission is not catching properly. Have this checked out professionally, and use your parking brake until you do!

Squeeling noise in 2004 Pontiac Aztek

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Without hearing the noise we'd only be guessing . Normally high pitch squealing nosies are associated with belt slipping problem's (serpentine belt ) . The serpentine belt turns the alternator , which if slipping could cause electrical issue's .

Clanking noise coming from Allison Transmission on a 2001 Chrevrolet Silverado 8.1 Liter engine

this does sound like theres a loose line tapping the engine/frame,during warm up the engine idles faster which could make it vibrate faster causing the the clanking or tapping noise,if this has started after trans fluid change, then check the lines running from the trani to radiator sometimes the service person might bang into something causing plastic clips that hold the lines to break, try getting under it and have someone start the truck and listen to see where it's coming from also hold the lines & see if the noise stops, the service guy could have unbolted something & never put the bolt back causing the clank ex.line may have a clip holding it thats bolted to the trani pan ?good luck

98 Cherokee 4.0 VERY loud grinding

Sounds like the alternator bearings have gone away, but, you need to physically check the source of the noise. (I can't do that from here).
It also seems that you may have more than one problem going on there, possibly a bad ignition switch and also a blown fuse or bad body control module. As far as why the noise seems to be only when the engine is "freewheeling" may have a lot to do with rpm change and loading when in gear. I would go after the obvious alternator problem first, then sort out the remainder later.

Clanking noise when in park, louder with ac turned on

Pull the engine accessory drive belt off and check the pulley bearing and the nose of the water pump and AC compressor for play, this may be the AC compressor pulley bearing or the water pump pulley bearing

Noise ... raddle

When the engine is cold, go under the car and try to shake the exhaust system at the approximate spot you hear the rattle coming from. It is most likely a heat shield for the exhaust, or a broken (rusted through) hanger for the exhaust making the noise you describe. You can probably correct it with a wire or couple of screws to secure the shield, or replace a hanger.

While driving engine shuts off

I had the same issue with another GM and never got it resolved except by replacing the battery.
Finally put it one that keeps good voltage while park or running.
Wall mart sells a $20 alternator and battery checking device you plug into a power socket.
Its digital read out is better for my eyes than the dash board one and has idiot color codes red yellow and green,

Some batteries seem to get shorted cells and that lower voltage can lead to engine shutdown even while driving. You would think a good alternator would keep the engine running but these new low rpm designs with heavy load...

This is all experience and I do not claim to be a GM tech.
