The tail lights are the same bulb but they use a different filament in the bulb.you may need to replace the bulbs.another possibility is there maybe a problem with the wiring for the tail lights between the socket and the area where the trailer wiring is connected to the truck wiring.try the bulbs first, you just have to try one first to see it it works or not then you will know what to do next.

Changed fuses fow tow connector. #3 and # 7. Now the left trailer light, signal, brake, etc works while only right tail light on trailer still works. On right side, the tail works, but not the brake,or...

I would recommend taking out the tail light. Get a test light, have an assantant step on brake. U will see the bulb in tailamp light up. Probe the wire w/your test lamp. That is brake wire. Repeat that process for blinker.. Drop down those two wires. Hook that to the same side on trailor. Repeat for left and you should be all set.

Trailer light hook-up

We do not have the wiring diagrams. But here is the red neck method, use a 12 volt test light probe tool (any parts stores for $5) and as a friend operates each light circuit, probe the connector or harness and see what lights up, then mark the wire color and what it does, brake lights, turn signals etc.

I'm trying to wire my 89 jeep wrangler to be towed useing it's existing lights.the turn signals both flash when right or left is on? I've tryed it under the dash with no luck now all the way...

If the brake and turn signal are on the same bulb than you can Orin straight wiring. If the brake and turn signal are on different bulbs than you'll need a wiring harness with a converter box. I'm pretty sure the wrangler has the brake and turn signal on the Same bulb so let's start with basic trailer wiring. The green wire on the trailer harness is for the right side turn and brake for the trailer. This wire should be attached to the wire on the vehicle that supplies power to the right turn signal/ brake light. The yellow wire is the left turn signal, brake light on the trailer and should be attached to the wire on the vehicle that supplies power to the left turn signal /brake light. The brown wire is the tail lights on the trailer and should be attached to either the left or right side wire on the vehicle that supplies power to the tail lights. The white wire is grounD and it is vitally important that this wire be attached to the vehicle in a manor that supplies a good ground. Failure to suppy a good ground will result in all kinds of funky problems with the trailerer lighting such as all the lights linking when the tail lights and turn signals are on at the same time. If you have any specific questions I will be more than happy to try and help. Good luck.

Have issues with trailer lights. Both turn signals on trailer flash when I use left or right turn signal. Have 7 pin factory plug. Lights on trailer work fine, hooked up to 97 Silverado. Act funny on 2000...

Standard wiring colors are as follows:

4-Way

5-Way

6-Way

7-Way

Green

Yellow

Brown

White

Red

Blue

Purple

Right Turn & Brake

Left Turn & Brake

Tail Lights

Ground

Backup Lights

Electric Brakes

Auxiliary Power
Green- Right Turn and Brake
Yellow- Left Turn and Brake
Brown- Tail Lights
White- Ground
Red- Reverse (Back Up) Lights
Blue- Electric Brakes
Purple- Auxiliary Power

It sounds like your green and yello wires are shorted together somewhere along the length of the harness. I would check the wires on the trailer first. Easier yet, if you have another trailer to connec or access to another to use for testing, connect to it and see if the problem repeats; if it does the trouble is in the vehicle's wiring.

05 Chevy Colorado trailer harness right turn not working

you must check the connection where the truck harness meets the added trailer harness on the truck itself not the trailer harness.

Tow plug

I take it the blinkers and brake lights work ok when not hooked up to the trailer? If yes, then the wiring to the tow hitch is not hooked up correctly. How many wires to trailer pig tail connection? U can have up to 7 depending on what you tow. Check to make sure these wires are hooked up from the truck to tow plug correctly: 7 wired---
brown-Rt turn and brake light, yellow-backup, white-ground, blue-electric brake, green-tail running lights, black-battery charger, red-left turn signal and brake light. Let me know if u have something other than 7 wire, I'll get the wiring color and source info for u.

2001 Sportage Trailer wire connections

brown to the tail lights. yellow to left turn signal. green to right turn signal. this is a basic 3 wire hook-up i use all the time w/4wire connectors for all trailers. white wire is not used. ground is established when you hook to the ball.
to find the correct wire to splice to, use a testor (has a clip to the bare wire, and a sharp point to the truck frame). using a needle, push it through a wire to rear light harness. turn on the turn signal. check if the connection is the blinker, testing until you have the blinker wire. the tail lights can be attached to the license plate wire. brakes and blinkers use same wire, so brake lights will work whenever the turn signal is attached.
to be sure everything is working right, have a second person go inside the truck and work the signals, brakes and lights one at a time while you are at the back of the trailer telling what to do.
