GM had a technical service bulletin 05-06-04-058 which had to do with a kind of chugging or loading uo under light acceleration. It would not set any codes in the computer. The most common finding was the throttle positing sensor being faulty and the tech will test it before replacing it.

There was a recall on these cars due to a problem where th engine would backfire and crack in the upper intake manifold. This was a fire hazard not to mention it could cause a driveability problem. It would create a vacuum leak which affects the MAP (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE) sensor.
This relates to fuel mixture and would be noticeable at low speeds and idle.
Whether GM would still cover cracked manifolds after 15 years is debateable. The recall notice number is :97-C-02. This may get you started in the general direction.

Jurking gas smell shifting hard little power when pulling heels

well, there are a few things you can try! a bad tps ( throttle position sensor ) transmission shift issues, bucking, jerking, idle surging, engine cutoff, hesitation on take off, surge while cruising down highway. also be sure your fuel filter is ok! and not plugging up. a maf sensor symtom is surge, slip condition under load, the mass air flow or MAF may be degraded or contaminated. stalling, misfiring, poor acceleration. a light may not come on. you can go to any auto parts store and buy a spray can of maf sensor cleaner. follow directions on can, and this should help alot. good-day!!

1997 chrysler sebring jxi clear computer codes after replacing gas cap

either you will need a scanner to clear the code or if that actually was the problem it will reset itself after so many ignition cycles. It is alot of ign. cycles and may take a week to clear itself depending on how often you turn on and off your car.

Burning alot of fuel 2001 chevy impala 3.4 engine. Check engine light on. recent tune up. 95,000 miles. Car also hesitates highway acceloration. Thank you.

First....you will have to check the code(s) stored in the computer.
The check engine light is telling you....you have a problem and fixing that problem may help with your fuel mileage.
When the check engine light is on....you loose 20% gas mileage and have 20% higher emissions.

1987 jeep cherokee larado

Where is the gas leaking from? To clear a flooded engine, keep your foot all the way down on the gas pedal while you try to start the car. As it starts keep holding until it sounds like it's smothing out then slowly release. You can also change the spark plugs if that does not work.
