Hi Fixya, on the bottom, passenger side, of the ENGINE in our 86 Olds 98 Regency Bhrougham there is a device that looks like a small shock absorber. I am told it is a 'engine torque damper' designed to reduce engine vibration. It is bad. What is the correct name for this device and where can one get one. I have the local Tunex people do my auto work (and they are very good - I have never had any problems with their work or advice) and they have been unable to find one - three seperate wrong part leads and even unable to obtain one thru the recyclers. Have spent more than an hour now trying to research thru the internet and drawing blanks when I came across your site. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated. John Lockwood

Do you have a junkyard where you pull the parts yourself in your area? We have a bunch near Dallas.
I could definitely find one. But do not know where you can buy one new.

Where is the blend door actuator on a 88 olds 98 regency brougham and what does it look like

The system in your car is all vacuum controlled so the first this you need to do is locate the main vacuum source under the hood. It is normally located on the passenger side near the firewall. You may see a plastic ball shaped canister or it could be square. Make sure that device has vacuum going to it from the engine

follow the upper radiator hose back to the engine block. The thermostat housing in on the engine side of that hose. It may be hard to see because of all the other "things" in the way. It usually has 2 or 3 mounting bolts holding it to the engine block.

I have a 1990 oldsmobile 98 and every day i have to get a boost to start it. what's the problem

it is the automatic load leveler that pumps air into the back shocks to level the car so it rides better when there are lots of people or weight in it. it is in the frontof the car opposite the battery, just disconnect it. had the same problem on my 1990 olds 98.

No Adjustments. The shocks are just too Soft. Replace them with the Originals From Factory and they will be better. They get softer the longer they are used.
