2000 XK8 I locked the glovebox and now it won't open . any ideas

don't have the valet key. when i purchased -it was missing. can it be over ridden?

you should be able to use your door key or ignition key.

Without valet key it cannot be opened.-------In that case, you need to open the glove box manually, with the help of thin tip/ flat screw driver.You need to insert the screw driver at the top slide space of the glove box.The glove box door lock latch is exactly at center of top.Slide the screw driver in the top and screw driver will stop when it meets the latch.Push the latch with screw driver and pull the glove box Handel to open it and it should release.Dont pull the glove box handle very tightly, it can get cracked. ------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

The car might be stucked in Valet mode. Use the black key that you have to open the trunk, it overrides the Valet Mode. The key goes in a hole that is between the X and the K on the emblem on the rear of the car.

Check the relays first. Make sure battery is fully charged. Low voltage can cause problems. Try owners forum for Jag.

2000 cadillac deville driver side won't open with the key

1) Key turns but dose not unlock door. This means that the rod that goes to the back of the lock has came off. This also means that is the reason door is not unlocking with the remote as it pops the lock rod inside the door which pushes the lock open.
2) Key does not turn lock at all but works passengers side door. This means that the locks has been changed in the door, but that doesn't sound like the problem as you say the remote doesn't open the drivers side door so more than likely the rod has came off the back of the lock

It's hard to say but sounds as if you got a short somewhere. I'd start by seeing what wires are running behind the glove box and go from there.

First thing is first, remove the lightbulb in your glovebox before you kill your battery. On the door of the glovebox, where it locks onto the piece sticking out of the glovebox, wiggle that whole piece, and see if it's loose. If it is, take a screwdriver, and tighten it. It may have just loosened itself from regular use. If it's loose, it won't lock onto the piece because it's just moving up or down when you try to slam it shut. Hopefully this works! Either that, or go to a junk yard, and get that peice out of another car. Simple fix for little money.

My 2000 licolin battery died the key won't open the door lock how do get in to the engin to put jumpers on the battery to give it enough power to work the locks ps i don't understand why the key...

The key has to open the drivers door

Raise the car up,support it,& put your battery
charger on the starter battery cable terminal
& ground the black clip

Try charging the battery for 4 hours or so

Inside trunk release won't open trunk on 2002 Camry. Lock will not turn with master key. Remote trunk opener will open trunk.

1. Open trunk
2. Place latch in lock position
3. Pull inside trunk release to see what isn't moving
4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced

not entirely sure about your buick, but I have a 2000 pontiac that has a switch just inside the glovebox that deactivates the trunk switch. that, together with locking the glovebox would prevent someone with jsut the valet key from gaining access to the trunk area.

Jaguar XK8 Remote Locking problem

check your lock relays located in the interior fuse panel. Sometimes the actual connections to the fuse block can come lose and the relays wont work properly. My 2000 silverado did the same thing till i bent the pins on the relay for a tighter fit.

How do i get radio code for 98 xk8 ?

I just bought my 1998 XK8 and it still has the owners manual. It says that there was a code for the radio on a card that was issued with the car when it was purchased. (no card was in the book I recieved) It goes on to say that if you lose the card the only way to get the radio code is to contact a Jag dealer with proof of ownerhsip and they will provide a code.
