We will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing.
- Spark
- Fuel
- Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the car to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should! Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

Thereis a relay in the Power Distribution Box, that governs the fuel pump (click image for zoom)...

This is the type of problem that calls for advanced troubleshooting. I see people giving out advice all the time based on past job they have done or "what could be wrong". I don't like running people in all different directions. This problem could be:

        A vacuum leak

        A valve issue

        Timing Chain

        Ignition

        Exhaust Restriction

        Fuel Pressure
The list goes on and on. A good mechanic will look listen and study the problem throughly. This takes time and patience. If there is only one cylinder misfiring then this is where the attention should be given, to the bad cylinder. If it is a intermittent problem then calls for other strategies.

If you're not sure of what to do you should find a reputable shop or call on others like: "free diagnostic". The following Auto Part Stores offer FREE diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting for computer related fault codes. They run this FREE service occasionally, call first to make sure they'll do it FREE. I think the service they provide is very useful to eliminate guesswork and pinpoint the real cause. They also have the parts and supplies there to help you. Take advantage of this FREE service if you don't have the necessary troubleshooting tools yourself. PEP Boy's / Auto Zone / Advanced Auto / NAPA. Remember, call first and make sure they'll do it for FREE!

    Hope helps.

2006 Ford taurus won't start, starter, altlernator, battery replaced, ignition starter switch, neutral safely switch changed, still nothing

I looked at info for your security system, it is starter motor disable. I didn't see 06 ford Taurus in my database, so I looked at 05.
Battery has a full charge and battery connections all good?
We can usually do some tests to see if starter motor will crank the engine, but, if the security is the problem, it still won't start.
You can check for applicable trouble codes? Try a different key?

My battery is fine but, when i turn the key NOTHING happens. the starter does not make a sound... NOTHING. what could be wrong? the car only has 48,750 on it and is in good shape.

Have someone hold the key in the start position and tap the starter with a hammer and if it turns over you have worn brushes in the starter motor.
you can also use a multi-meter and see if there is 12 volts at the starter solenoid (the thin wire)

It sounds like a loose wire to the starter, check the wiring going to the starter for any corrosion, breaks and make sure all the bolts and nuts are tight.

I would look at the positive cable at the battery and at the starter. Pull the cabel off and a continuity test to see if the wire has a internal break if the wire gets even a pinhole it can build corrosion on the inside of the wire and when a current is put through it it seperates (from the resistance and arc from corrosion) causing the wire to seperate internaly.

Hope this will get you started!

Check the wire harness to the starter solenoid, the wires could have a break in it or the solenoid could also be bad. The heat of the engine could be causing the solenoid to fail till it cools down. Try that first, good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.
