Drivers seat in Suzuki Vitara 2006

Our drivers seat in our Suzuki Vitara 4WD 1996 collapses backwards and does not lock. We don't appear to be able to see the locking mechanism and what is causing it not to activate.

You will have to de-trim the seat back to access the mechanism.

2000 suzuki grand vitara won't shift from park

Shift lock solenoid could be the problem , or brake light switch ,or shift lock relay . Your vehicle has a safety system known as shift lock or interlock , what ever suzuki calls it . It will not allow the shifter to move from park to any gear unless drivers foot is pushing the brake pedal . You can view wiring diagram here at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size .Then under system click on transmission / transaxle . Then under subsystem click on transmission controls , hit the search button , the click first blue link . At the top of the diagram an on the right side you will see shift lock relay ,Then down near the bottom on the left side you will see the shift lock solenoid . You could test these with a volt meter ,do you have an know how to do that ? Where is your shifter ? on the floor or on the steering column ? You will need to disassemble parts of your vehicle to get at these parts .So check the relay first , do you have a owners manual ? Should tell you the location in there .

2006 suzuki will not engage low ratio

Driving on what? dirt,ice?what?
2006 is 2nd year of option AWD
is your car awd?
or part time 4wd used every year to here>
if not AWDhttp://www.fixkick.com/tranny/xfr-case/4wd%20windup/suzuki-grand-vitara-4mode-4wd-selector-switch.jpg

4L is never for dry ice free pavement, ever.
on both AWD and PT 4wd
never
the operators guide says that and the damage word.
read it , lost it? we have it.ask...?

KNOB, see the word lock, ,
means it's not AWD in that mode. 2L lock is part time only.

this page coves all VITS made
from sidekicks ,tracker and newer, say 2006 or so...
http://www.fixkick.com/part-time-test.html

even shows AWD part id 23 that does all that magic.
with AWD. but never in 2L lock.
no center differential in 2L lock, at all.

and is a danger drive, using it wrong.
to you, others and windup damage to car.

that only half the story, the page above
covers lots more.
the rule in 2L is this.
one tire needs be on ice, or dirt.
or bad happens.
same with PT box.

true for VIT and jeeps. lock or part time 4wd

I have a Suzuki 2L diesel 2004 Grand Vitara and recently the 4x4 does not disengage even though i have put the lever back down to 2. Eventually after a few hundred metres it disengages back to 2 wheel...

hello and greetings. you did not say what driveline options
were purchase when car was new. so, can not answer.
but if car is PT 4wd, I can. if not get it fixed, by any 4wd shop.

the car is full time 4wd or AWD ?
PT:
the Part time 4wd must not be driving on dry pavement.
so drive to dirt or grass or ice and then shift back to 2wd

there is a TSB from Suzuki on wind up.

exceptions?
sure , the 2004 options statement here. and the rules for PT 4wd.
http://www.fixkick.com/part-time-test.html

Suzuki Grand Vitara/Escudo -full-time 4WD using limited-slip center differential, off-road 4WD with selectable center differential lock and low range transfer case 4 mode (4h, 4h lock, 4l n), traction control and electronic stability control
Suzuki offered as an option AWD for Grand Vitara's in 2004 (XL7 too) Some Suzuki AWD you can not use lock on dry pavement, so read the operators guide carefully.

suzuki sells the operators guide if lost,
$4 day pass
$25 for full pdf.

4wd indicator light blinking when it is in 2wd Can I still drive it

yes, x2
this car is not AWD !! do not drive in 4wd, on pavement , (ice or snow free) not even on , wet pavement. a great danger to you, and others on the road.
RTM on part time 4wd, read it and if you have questions, ask.
