The ABS light, (Antilock Braking System), is a warning light for the vehicles Brakes. Make sure that your electrical connections are tight. Make sure that the feed wire to the alt is not grounding against the vehicle or engine.

It is two separate systems. V.V.T. (Variable Valve Timing), runs on the oil system of the vehicle so has nothingdirectly to do with fuel. The vvt solenoid is basically an electrically operated switch that alters the engines mechanical timing depending on how hard it's being work. If the solenoid is stuck either open or closed the valve timing doesn't adjust so it won't run smoothly and it can affect your fuel consumption because of that. What exactly is your fuel issue?

Subaru vehicles do not have inertia switches. That is a Ford item. Your fuel pressure tested good then? Those have main relays up under the dash on the far left of the drivers side, sometimes those do go bad. Your 2004 should have a fuel filter on the left strut tower, if it's never been changed that could be the problem too. I have seen fuel pumps work but the level sender go bad and say there is fuel in the tank when it's actually empty.

From online research,this is a common problem for this vehicle year,make & model. There are usually two fixes for the problem.The first is a broken solder joint on the printed circuit board on the back of the instrument cluster.It can be repaired easily if you're good at soldering.The second fix is a defective vss (vehicle speed sensor) Its located on the side of the transmission and simply bolts in place I believe.
