How to repair a cold start issue?
Yes. Spark plugs. Try holding down the gas pedal just half way the next time you try to start. If it starts right up it's because the spark is not strong enough to ignite the air fuel mixture. If you add more air (opening the throttle with the gas pedal) you lean out the mixture and it ignites easier. Capiche? As a second solution, your coolant temperature switch is bad. It lives in the radiator. If it's bad it may be telling the computer that the car is already warmed up so the fuel mixture that the computer is commanding into the throttle is too lean. Note: there are two coolant temperature switches on these subaru's. One is for the dash cool or hot for the gauge on the dash. The other (which is the one you want) is for the computer. The part store should ask which one you want. Cheers, Ethan
Where is the coolant sensor that acts as a choke ?
do you mean the the thermostat? the one that lets your car get up to working temp before it opens up to let the water circulate? that is normally found the on the engine where the rubber hose from the radiator connects to the engine
Gas petal is stiff to the point where it has to be
There's really not alot to the cable.First. Pop the hood - set the hood prop up.Bend over the engine and look behind the throttle body. There, you will see the throttle cable. Can you pull the cable easily? If not, your cable is probably frayed and bunching up inside the cable insulation OR you have a sharp bend in it somewhere between the throttlebody and the pedal.
