Your car security system thinks the car is being broken into. Put your key in the ignition and turn it to ACC position, then try reconnecting the battery. I hope this helps.

Its normal for a fan to run after the engine is shut off if the temperature is high enough,but if your car is running hot,you have other issues

Brake light? Some bad connections to light sockets if bulbs not burned out. Of course you will need help to see brake light when brake is pushed.

60,000 miles or 5years which ever comes sooner, ps. easy job but make sure the water pump is ok. good idea to change that also at the same time, seen to many fail just after belt replacement. if its a auto tensioner which at that year it should be, change that also. get a kit with all in. good luck.

now some rovers will disconnect the alarm with a fuse under the bonnet in the box the top right one if i remember correctly but this was a earlier model that i had a 200 .Now on the rover what happens is if you leave the key in and the door open the alarm locks on ,this is easy enough to turn off if you have the remote but if you do not have a remote?? .Earlier ones you could also bridge a transistor in the computer and this by-passed the alarm but the later ones iam not so sure about ,on a car this age their should be plenty in the scrappers so find one with the keys and remote and remove the whole lot ,computer/key/transponder and change it all over .Or see if the original dealer who will no doubt have another make of vehicle franchise but still have the software to programme it all up for you and supply some new remotes for toy and programme them in .

Heat engine to operating temp, add a good oil flush for 30 mins at 1500rpm. Drain oil and fit new filter. Add correct engine oil...good quality stuff. Run car and repeat this every 4 months foa year

White smoke is usually a sign that there is a problem with the cooling system. Blue smoke is fuel related. Have the cooling system checked at a guess I would say this is water leaking into the cylinders which indicates a cylinder head gasket fault. A faulty cylinder head gasket would also cause slight loss of compression which could explain the loss of power. remove the oil filler cap on the engine if there is a sign of a light brown (cream) coloured substance (water contaminated oil) on the cap or in the cover then the head gasket needs replacing also check the dipstick. This is a MIL light and has prob come on because a sensor has become clogged or faulty. Your car will use more fuel when this light is on. Try disconnecting the battery for 20min to reset ecu. Make sure you have the stereo code! If this fails to reset the light or the light comes back on you must go to your local garage who should have a diagnostic scanner that can be plugged into you car to find out what the fault is. Roger
