Replace lock actuator

Hi you need to test that the lock solenoid is getting a +ve pulse when you press the open button...it may have a broken wire. However, if the solenoid has seized its a straight forward job to fit a new one. Remove boot door inner trim...locate solenoid..two screws hold the body and a white clip onto the lock mechanism...fitting is a reverse of removal

Fuse keeps blowing on brake lights

It sounds like a short in the brake light circuit. When you are hitting the brakes, it is sending power along the positive wire of the circuit and shorting on the ground somewhere in the circuit. They make tools for finding shorts, which consists of an amp meter and circuit breaker. However, you can start by checking all wires that go to the brake lights. Start with the ones that are usually accessible through the trunk. Don't forget to check the third brake light if your vehicle has one. You will also want to check the bulb sockets themselves.

Engine over revs when standing idle then cuts out even after driving for a while

Hi Gillian, I believe that your mechanic may have tried to adjust the idle speed by carrying out an adjustment on the throttle position sensor. That would account for the problem you are experiencing now. As for it to be reset and then ask him to check for any leaking or broken vacuum pipes. Any air leaking into the intake manifold from loose damaged or cracked pipes will be a possible cause of the original problem. Regards John
