Tip & How-To about Honda Accord

Tips when purchasing a used car.

Here are a few items to look out for when buying a used car, truck or even a motorbike. This can also provide you bargaining powers especially if you find potential problems or costs in maintenance. You may also avoid buying a potential lemon and get the most out of of your hard earned money.

Always test drive it. Not only do you get a feel of the handling and the suspension but you get to feel the engine performance. Not enough grip or a wallow ride or noises underneath may be traced to the tires and the suspension system. Parts may need to be replaced. Look out for signs such as noises, smoke, loss of power or anything out of the ordinary. Smoke or loss of power are signs of possible engine issues or a problem starting to brew.

Apart from the looks, check the truck's body for damages. As much as possible get the one which has not been into any major accidents. Knock on the body. You should hear the metal sound. Otherwise it could be filler which means a repair has been made. Look at the paint if it is still the original paint. A change in paint may mean a repair was made.

Look at underneath the car for damages and rust especially at the wheel wells. This is a potential cost in the future. Seldom do buyers look at this but it is very important. Those who live in humid or wet areas should always check this side of the car. Damage repairs can also be spotted underneath, such as parts that are welded. This could be a potential safety issue.

Look at the mileage of the car. On an average a car travels 15000 miles a year. Check if the car year adds up. If it is too high then you have to worry about possible repair costs in the future. If it is too low, either the dashboard has been replaced or the car has been stuck for awhile.

Check the paper works. Not only will it validate the ownership but documentation of the repairs will give clues on how well the car has been taken care off.

Where can I get instructions on how to replace burned out dash lights for a 2001 camry

For 8.99, you can get the entire service manual that will tell you exactly how the dealers remove them., as well as every other detail about servicing your car in almost any catagory.

It's on eBay, item # 170391737603

I've used these electronic back-up manuals for over 5 years now & found that with my laptop, I can go to a vehicle, start my work & follow the guide. It provides specifiations for nearly every little thing, It, clips, springs, or other items such as, how many bolts you have to remove to take an item off, are shown in the illustrated diagrams.

It also provides troubleshooting guides.

It's a good buy, otherwise, the auto parts stores have either a Chiltons Manusl, a Peterson Manual, or a Haynes Manual, you should browse each before buying as they aren't always 100% complete. I always used 2 of these reference guides before I started using the Factory Service Manuals. I do own the manuals, just use the CD because it's easier to search for specific items using Adobe.

Good luck.

whats the price for getting a key made

You know that's going to vary by so much comparing prices from area to area & dealer to dealer that it's hard to give you a suitable answer, but I'll try to provide some guidance.

Your car uses a transponder key,and your best bet would be to buy the key from someplace other than a dealership, then take it to a locksmith for cutting. This will save you money. Go to eBay & the below Item number as it provides you with all of the information you should need & there are other sellers with deals similar.

You can buy a new Transponder key on eBay, I found yours for 12.99 including shipping & handling. Item #: 190372492505

They even tell you how to send them basic info about your key that will allow them to pre-program it for you. (you need a multimeter, but they are available everywhere & inexpensive)

Check out that item and the info they provide, i've found eBay to be an excellent source for new keys over the past 6 years for many vehicles..

good luck
