The anti-theft alarm keeps coming on after the car has been parked and locked. How can I deactivate it. I have double checked evrything is properly closed and locked. It has been an intermittent fault in the past few weeks but appears permanent now and the car has to be left unlocked to avoid causing a nuisance to our neighbours. We cannot leave it unlocked in a public place under any circumstances.

you can leave it unlocked,as the immobiliser will take care of any potential thief, as if you dont have the actual key,you cannot start the car.the key is coded to the actual car and can never be duplicated.as far as the alarm is concerned, try this, put the key into the drivers door and unlock/hold the key over for 30 secs, the windows will go down, then lock/hold the key over, the windows will go up.wait 30 secs, then press/hold the unlock button on the remote for 30 secs, you have just reset the immobiliser......

i have a mk3 golf gti 16v sometimes it starts revs once then cuts out and won't fire up! i leave it for a few hours then it starts no problem!

you need to reset the alarm/immobiliser system...put key in drivers door and unlock/hold key over, windows will go down, wait 30 secs.
then,lock/hold key over ,windows will go up,wait 30 secs then press/hold unlock button on remote to reset system.(if you have,nt got a remote, you will HAVE to buy one)and make sure you have newish batteries in remote.
you can buy a "superchip" for this car @volkstuning,goes like stink....
