Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Blazer

Antifreeze

If you own a GM product that uses DEX-COOL (orange) type , as an antifreeze, i would immediately change it out to the regular "Green" type. hopefully its not too late! Google Dex-cool and see what people think about it!

What kind of antifreeze do I use for my 1999 Saturn

Well, a 50-50 solution of any good green AF is okay, unless you have the dex-cool, orange colored, GM brand type of AF... If you have that, you want to use orange again. You cannot mix dex-cool with regular green AF (like Prestone or any brand AF that is green colored). A lot of people don't like using dex-cool so they change to regular AF. But to do so, you need to flush out every trace of the dex-cool. If they get mixed, problems like sludge in the coolant may result.

What type of antifreeze is best for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee? (I just bought it few months ago.) Thanks, Edward

Edward. the recommended antifreeze is the MOPAR antifreeze. I think the additives are the reason that you want that antifreeze.

What type of anti-freeze is recommended?

Many newer cars from GM require Dex-Cool, but if you read the labels of regular antifreeze, from Prestone, for instance, the warranty is still 5 years and it can mix with any color antifreeze.

I use regular antifreeze vs. Dex-Cool in my 1997 Cadillac Deville and, (knock on wood) haven't had any problems.

I believe that Dex Cool is a little bit more expensive than regular antifreeze.

Use a 50/50 mixture of whatever type you plan to use, though.

what kind of antifreeze do i use in my 2000 montecarl

Good Evening, originally your vehicle came with dexcool antifreeze. However if you are not the original owner and they did work to it you may just want to check the color of the antifreeze to know which one to get. If it is green it is your standard antifreeze, if it is clear change it immediately because it is water and you really do not want it to freeze, if it is a orangish color it is dexcool. And if it is brown someone mixed dexcool and the standard antifreeze and I would recommend a flush and refill. There are varying thoughts on dexcool and a lawsuit going in california against it so you might look into that and make your own decision from there. Hope this helps.
