Ford Expedition 1999, Climate control system, A/C blowing Hot air.

I have had my head scratched trying to figure out why my truck kept blowing out extreamly hot air and no a/c. I've done the stuff of taking apart the dash, which seems to have a billion screws you have to remove, to get to the blend door and fixed that part. Only to find I still didn't have cold air. So, I kept researching the internet and reading my Haynes book. This is when I did the smack on the forehead like "I could have had a V8" drink. OK, now for the moment....

If you have it equiped on your Ford, there is a trick to check your climate control OBD-ll system for the inside of the truck. The OBD-ll system (On Board Diagnosis). You can see if you have a problem with the area of the climate control system for the inside of your truck. You have one for the engine as well, but that is used for the pros. and is for other areas to your truck.
1. Turn on your truck.
2. Turn your heat on to desired temp. for heat. Now, do step 3.
3. Turn off your heater and A/C.
4. Press both the Floor and Off buttons together, WITHIN two seconds, release the Floor and Off button and press the Automatic button and release. Give it about 30 seconds to a minute. You should see a little single led dance on the screen where you would normally see the temp.
5. Once that time is up, you should have a number code to located your problem for the cab. If you only see it all lit up with three 888's. Then you might not have a problem. However, you just did a troubleshoot on the system and you should have normal heat and A/C coming out.

To exit:
6. To save the code press the Defrost button, then the display will turn off. To erase the information press the Blue button (A/C) then it will turn off the test display.

Note: Once you turn your heat or A/C back on you will see it is set to 75 degrees. That just means you did it correctly.
