Engine and Transmisson oil additives are they worth the money?

After 35 years as a mechanic and using additives I have found only three that really do anything at all. Many additives say they give you 10% better fuel mileage same with some spark plugs saying the same thing If what all the manufactures claim was true your car would be producing fuel and this just does not happen. But here are some additives that I do recommend that save you expensive repairs and helps you get better fuel mileage and helps automatic transmissions to last longer. I will also discuss synthetic oils and their uses. Of these additives I make no money buy selling them, I sell them to my customers as a service and add them at no charge so that my customers get longer engine life and make their cars last longer and help keep the engine clean and running at top performance.

Engine Additives Like Dura Lube This oil additive will protect the engine in case of a oil filter failure or oil leak, it only has to be put in every 4 oil changes, What it does is coats the engine with a slick compound that sticks to the moving metal parts reducing the wear of the engine parts by 50%. We have ran a engine with Dura Lube in it and drained all oil and antifreeze and drove the car without oil and water for 1 hour. We tore down the engine and inspected the engine parts. We found the engine parts looking like new with no wear on the bearings or cams and cylinder walls had no signs of wear at all, plus we noticed a 5% increase in fuel mileage. After installing the oil and antifreeze the car never heated up and oil pressure was as high as if the engine was new. This product is worth the money to save your engine in case of loss of oil pressure for any reason.

Next Lucas Gas treatment oil add one can of Lucas gas treatment into a tank of gas and do this about every 4th tank of Gas. What this does is removes varnish from the combustion chamber and top of pistons. On new cars the engines have knock sensors and after time carbon and varnish builds up and causes the engine to ping. This is due to the build up of varnish and carbon, And causes the Knock sensor to not be able to adjust the timing on the engine thus causing it to ping and detonate causing engine damage to rings rod bearings and other vital parts of the engine. Using this additive will keep you from having to go to the shop for top engine cleaning after 40,000 miles of driving.

The Next additive I recommend is the Lucas Transmission oil additive for automatic transmissions. When you change the automatic transmission fluid every 30,000 miles this additive does several things first it makes the rubber o-ring seals in the transmission pliable so the rings don't crack causing you to lose a gear, it also softens bands and clutches helping the transmission not to slip, Minor slippage happens as the transmission gets older and the clutches get stiff this will help the transmission last longer. As well this oil seems to clean the shifting solenoids so they don't stick in a certain gear, used in each transmission oil change will help make the transmission last much longer.

These are the only additives that I recommend that Have proven themselves over the long haul I have tried others and they just do nothing but waste your money.

Next I want to mention synthetic oils for the transmission and differentials and wheel bearings, synthetic oils will make bearings last lounge and the differential last longer due to the fact they almost stop any wear of the metals at all. A side note Do not install synthetic oil in the engine or transmission until it has broke in: normally 30,000 miles once the engine has loosened up and broke in that is the time to add synthetic oil if you ad it to soon the engine will not break in and you will never get the best fuel mileage as the engine will stay tight with the synthetic oil.

These simple additives will save you hundreds or thousands of dollars of repairs due to the decreased wear on components in the engine and transmission.
One last thing I recommend and this is for your windshield Ranix, this fluid that you wipe on the wind shield does several things, one it helps water to flow off the windshield so that it is eayer to see when driving when you are near big trucks during a heavy rain storm also it is good to put on the outside mirrors it allows the water to run off the mirror allowing you to see without having to stop and wipe the mirror off. apply it as directed then add what you have left in the windshield washer to help keep the windshield and side windows protected. It allows the water to turn into a sheet of water that you can see threw in heavey rain and helps the water to run off and not collect dirt on the windshield helping the wiper blades to last longer and helps keep the windshield from getting scratched from the wiper moving dirt back and forth on the windshield. You should also apply Rainx to the head lights and fog lights so that the water runs off as well as snow, Since all new head lights are made of plastic this will protect the head light from getting fogged up and also keep the outer side of the head light from getting scratched thus causing yo to have to replace the head light shield at a cost of $200.00 each.
