the tire pressure inside the door jam says 30psi. but the tires say 44 psi max

The 30 # is recommended by the manufacturer of the vehicle for the tires that probably came on the vehicle. The MAX on your tire is recommended by the tire manufacturer. Have you replaced your tires? If you carry a heavy load, you will want to be nearer the 44 #. 30 will give you a smoother ride. I would say you should consider a pressure of 35 #, consistent with your load. 35 is a easy number to match while checking your tire pressure. You may wish to consult with your tire dealer or your vehicle dealer for more information. If you have a tire pressure warning system, please consult with your dealer for adjustments for your kind of driving..

2006 Mini Cooper S - tire conversion

You are right about the quality of ride, and would probably notice better handling as well. However when selecting new tires you need to awnser 3 basic questions.Where do you live?,what type of driver are you?And of course, what is your price range. If you live where you get snow and ice your going to need all-season tires. If you dont have to worry about that I would go with summer tires. They tend to offer better grip and ride and are also cheper. The down side is they tend to wear quicker. As far as brand,if money isnt an object go with bridgestone, michelin,or goodyear. If it is there are many good tires for less, check out sites like tirerack.com and you can read customer reviews.Hope this helps.

I have a toyota corolla 2001 and I am wondering if a P17570r14 would have a smoother ride than a p17565r14?

the 70 has a higher aspect ratio so it will ride smoother becasue it is taller between the wheel and the ground.

ideal tire pressure 2005 ford ecape limited

the manufactor puts a sticker on the passengers side rear door with recommended tire pressure.if you want a smoother ride then decrease the rear tires by 2 lbs,so if the front is supposed to be 35 lbs,put 33 lbs in the rear.try to keep the 2 rear tires the same exact and the two front the same to keep the tires from wearing un-even..unless you have a air pressure monitor in the system that lets you know when your tires need air, this way feels better. The reason for the difference from front to back in pressure is because of the weight of the engine.
