Tip & How-To about Jaguar Cars & Trucks

Jaguar puddle light microswitch replacement

I have a 2003 Jaguar XJR that had a common failure for Jaguars. The microswitch in the door latching mechanism failed. All i found for advice was to buy the whole locking mechanism since it is a proprietary switch that cannot be bought separately.I went to a self service junkyard and pulled just the switches out and got two for $13.00. Huge savings and now i have an extra for the next failure.

My 2003 Jag S won't let me lock the doors manually, with the key or the remote. Found when I put the car in gear and all doors lock. Then it immediately unlocks and will not let me lock the car.

you have a faulty door latch on one of the doors. the lock status switch in the latch or the wiring to it has failed.the drivers door is favorite, the locking module thinks the door is open.

fault finding

faulty microswitch on door latch i guess alarm will not arm also because it thinks a door is open you need to find out which door and renew the latch ,try opening and closing each pass door in turn, one door will not turn off interior light as soon as the others the faulty one will wait for the generic control module to time out
