Fuel Guage Stops at about 1/3 tank...

With the chevy suburban (and perhaps some other GM vehicles), if the fuel gauge gets stuck at 1/3 tank, or if it's at that level and begins to act like it's out of gas (because it actually is), then you need to drop the fuel tank. Inside the tank is a square shaped box like area that the fuel sender and pump sit in. It is held to the bottom by three screws/pegs that should be held on by three washers that snap onto them. If you look into the tank and see that the square box area is loose and freely moving inside the tank, then you'll need to locate the washers inside, reposition the box onto the three screws/pegs, and snap the washers back on. Get a new gasket and put the pump back. You should find that the problem has corrected itself. That will save you the expense of buying a new fuel sender which is well over $100 on the after market.

sluggish on acceleration

May be one of several things, most likely cause is the fuel pump, I've replaced so many fuel pumps on the Chevy trucks its crazy. Veh needs more fuel to take off then it does just cruising around you need to have a fuel gauge put on it and test drive it to see what the pressure does when it's acting up, should stay above 48-50 psi. Vehicle will run even as low as 20 PSI but it will be weak..

my gas gauge doesn't work in my 2003 bonneville. What can i do to fix this problem, along with my broken gas gauge my heater in my drivers side seat is no longer working, i would appreciate any help thanks :)

It might not be anything wrong with your fuel sending unit. Keep an eye on your other gauges. I own a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville GXP. All of my gauges have started acting erratically. It started with my Temp. gauge, moved on to my speedometer, and now my oil pressure , fuel level and batty volt gauges are affected too. Its a very common problem with GM vehicles.

Fairly common problem with GM vehicles. The sending unit in your tank has a small circuit board that an arm is attached to which moves up and down according to your fuel level. This circuit board and arm are not making good contact. Unfortunately the only good solution is to replace this part.

2002 Chevy Suburban: Fuel gauge reads empty, tank is half full

Youre gauge is controlled by a plunger in the fuel tank which is attached to the sensor and the fuel gauge. it sounds like when the plunger goes down half way its either getting stuck down lower then it should. Needs replacing. Any mechanic can do this install for you.

I ran out of gas with 1/8 showing on the gauge (the light didn't come on). Dealership said the pump for reserve fuel was out so it couldn't pump gas from the reserve section of the tank to the main section. They said the new part was $600 (plus labor), ouch. All the info I find points to only one fuel pump/module. The truck runs fine, just can't get below a 1/4 of a tank. Vehicle is a 2003 Chevy Suburban, 2500, 4x4, QuadraSteer with 68,000 miles.

I don't always agree with the dealership and there innovations. It does sound like you need a fuel pump. the sock or p/u tube, at the bottom of the pump has come off. GM fuel pumps are usually good for 100K+ miles but unless you can verify that the filter inside the tank is still doing its job. you may compound your problem by sending unfiltered fuel to your injectors. Good luck.
