Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Cars & Trucks

Try the simple step first, it's usually the right one.

Engine light comes on: and not time for oil change, check the gas cap. The newer cars don't like the smallest amount of air in the tank. Easy fix. It's a code thrown, call dealership to walk you thru the steps.

How can I find out how to fix my check engine light, can it be related to the gas cap in any way?

It absolutely could be the gas cap. I would stop and get the code read for free at advance auto or autozone. If it is a newer 2003 -2006 Ram, they are known for popping engine light when the engine oil is getting old or if the wrong type of oil was put in.

You should have a check engine light on this needs to be diagnosed first. No light then the possibilities are unlimited...... cam sensor ...fuelpump... fuel pump relay.... oil pressure and or levels

What is needed for a tune up?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. For a tune up, you would need to change spark plugs, coils, distributor cap, coil pack, and wires. You would change the air filter and the fuel filter also. Change your pcv valve as well. You can also change all your fluids and filters, such as oil, coolant fluid, and transmission fluid.
