Going through starters and alternators?

Remove the battery ground (negative) cable from the battery.

Remove the accessory drive belt.

Remove the alternator B+ terminal nut.

Remove the alternator B+ lead.

Remove the alternator electrical connector.

Remove the drive belt from the alternator.

Remove the alternator mounting bolts.

Remove the alternator from the vehicle.

To Install:

Install the alternator to the alternator bracket.

Install the alternator bolts. Tighten the alternator bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).

Install the drive belt.

Install the alternator electrical connector.

Install the alternator B+ lead.

Install the alternator B+ terminal nut. Tighten the alternator B+ terminal nut to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

Install the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery.

It still sounds like a ground problem. Is the battery low? Check connections at alternator and negative ground to engine. AutoZone will test alternators, starters or batteries for free. Good luck!

Erratic voltage. Usually caused by a faulty voltage regulator in the alternator, but First things first test your battery and inspect all connections including positive and ground battery cables and the positive cable from the alternator to the battery. Assuming all connections/cables are then If you can find a shop that repairs alternators and starters bring your alternator in to them and have it repaired plus most auto parts stores test them if you cant find someone to repair it you will have replace the whole alternator.

where are you getting the starters from in my experience starters and alternators, etc. don't last long from advance and autozone

your first mistake was buying a reman starter from autozone ....go to napa, oreilly, or anywhere but autozone to buy reman starters
alternators etc ....autozone parts are junk ...
get a new starter motor and replace the autozone one ....
