Tip & How-To about 2000 Nissan Maxima

Noise from your wheels or steering wheel movement while driving...

If you hear noise coming from your front wheels when you drive at certain speed, getting worse when you pick up speed. Or you feel your sterring wheel moves or jerks lfet and right everytime you go over small speed pellets on the highway or over small wavy bumpy roads or over small bumps in the road. then it's time to change out both your Right & Left CV Axles as well as your Wheel Bearings! Both of these have to be done in conjuntion with one another. If your Axles give out or your wheel bearings give out (which ever comes first) your vehicle will immediately come to a complete stop!! If you have to money to do these fixes, which are pretty much inexpensive to find, if you know where to shop for parts and you can find a shop that does not charge a lot for labor. In my case I am going to change the majority of other parts as well, not only both CV Axles but also: 4 new wheel hubs, 4 new (heavy duty wheel bearings-made in Japan), 4 new(thick) brake rotors and 4 new 50/50 mix heavy duty-brake pads(will offer me no squeaks and no brake residue to rims-also from Japan). Why Japan, well, just better parts for my application-wheel bearings can wear out quick if your not buying from a reputable company that uses only the best top-quality hard steel/iron materials with state of the art procedures that bring forth a product with long durability and life. You can buy USA made parts, but in certain applications it's better to buy Japanese parts depending on your vehicle type.Do your homework and decide for yourself which part is most important to your apllication and it's durability factor.Since the wheel bearing is of utmost importance for my application/type of vehicle,i'm buying the best...Happy restoration....

03 mountaineer AWD has a thumbing noise coming from the driver side when wheel is turning in the right position a noise is coming from the left side

Most Good garages can do these for you for free or a small cost.
The things to get checked are...
First get all your wheel bearings checked. Especially the front ones. A worn wheel bearing will give a thrumming noise when driving which gets worse when you turn corners.
Next have ALL of your wheels checked to see that they are balanced correctly and ALL of your tyres are in good legal condition. Out of balance wheels and worn out tyres can cause vibrations at certain speeds.
Have all the suspension mounting points and rubbers checked. Worn joints move too much as you drive also causing vibration and noises.

I hear a growling noise whenever i get over a certain speed, and when speeding up. It's coming from th right front and i thought maybe the wheel bearing? The noise goes away when turning to the right.??

good chance it is . Grab top of wheels and rock it side to side . If you feel it clicking pretty good you probably need bearings . I would try this on all the wheels . Hope it is a rear bearing if it is front wheel drive

The struts and shocks where not tightened properly take it back and have then tighten everything down to correct specs. But before you leave your hosue check your tire lug nuts and make sure they are tight so you can drive over there and like i said have them tighten everything

Vibration and noise from front end while driving

Jack up the front end and put stands under it and block rear wheels. Look at axle boots and see if they are cracked. Try turning wheel back and forth sharply and see if you can hear any clicking. Problem could be outer axle joints. If the boots are cracked or you hear a clicking noise you will have to replace the axle. The axle and boot come as a complete unit. Please let me know what you find out.
