How to change the starter with out breaking the bolts

The starter is under the front onthe driverside loosen the bolts evenly if they wont come out easily spray it with wd 40 or some penitrating oil if you dont they are known to snap off and extraction is a ***** trust me a lot of ppl do this and it is not fun to extract the broken bolt if you did break one you have to buy an "easy-out" one side is a drill bit you must first drill a small hole in the middle of the bolt then flip the extractor around and put you drill on forward "slowest setting works best" then slowly start the drill as you drill in forward it should back the bolt out but if you try to do it on hi it will just rip the extractor or bolt apart hope i helped some one with this

2000 ford explorer 4.0 top starter bolt frozen in bell housing, cannot move, bottom one came out by hand, top one broke loose turned 1/8 turn and now cannot move, tried some heat with a propane torch no help.afraid to strip head.

I would try spraying some WD-40 on the bolt, and try to tighten it, loosen it, tighten and loosen it, don't spare the WD-40. Ford Trucks and some Ford Cars seem to have this problem alot.

How to removing starter from 1994 mercury sable? Having trouble getting bolts off. I have used WD 40 still no luck. Any suggestions? Is there a pic of the starter to make sure I'm tugging on the correct bolts?

I'm sure they are just stuck on there real tight. They get weathered under the car, and rusty. I don't think you would get them confused with the other parts. The best bolt breaker I have ever used is PB BREAKER . This can will make every bolt easier to get off like no other solution out there. Give it at least 1 hour. If it is still stuck, spray again and wait. It will work. Also, alternate between a breaker bar, and an impact wrench if you have them. Don't stress the wrench so it breaks or strip the bolt, it will loosen with repetition. I have not had 1 bolt stuck since I discovered PB BREAKER.
Good Luck!

I have an old 88 ford f-150 that I can not get from 4 high into neutral and 4 low. Whats wrong?

the 4x4 shifter has a bushing that lets it pivot to each position you can see it under the vehicle,it bolts on to the trans/transfer case.it will seize fast and not let you move your shifter, sometimes you can loosen the large bolt that holds the bushing and spay it with wd-40,and work it back and forth then more spray .it happens even to the 2000 ford trucks.

removing chevy venture caliper

Yes it's the right direction but because of so much heating and cooling those bolts get really tight.Spray alot of penetrating oil (WD-40) on and around the bolts. You may even want to tap the wrench on the bolts in the opposite direction slightly (tighten) to help loosen their adherence, then try the right way to losen them.Dont use a torch! It'll melt the "O" ring on the caliper piston.Take your time

can't get starter bolts loose to change starter

Hi blondie-68, They can be a little hard to break loose for sure,I am certain you know they are right hand thread, if you can using a flat punch or bar tap the head of the bolt a few times and try to break them again, if you can manipulate a snipe of some sort onto your wrench or ratchet this will give you the extra leverage required, could also try an air ratchet if you have one and if it will fit, just one of those annoying little jobs but with a little persistance you will succeed :) good like let me know how you make out take care
