These codes refer to 3 different issues. P0053 - HO2S Heater resistance Bank 1, sensor 1. P0054 - HO2S Heater Resistance Bank 1 Sensor 2 P0324 - Knock Sensor (KS) Module Performance. P0326 - Knock Sensor Circuit Excessive Spark Retard. P0597 - Thermostat Heater Control Circuit Open. You need to get a good mechanic to look at this. The HO2S codes refer to both of the 'O2' sensors in the exhaust, (mounted before and after the Catalytic Converter). They monitor the exhaust gas mixture to correct fuel mixture to the engine to control exhaust gas pollution levels. If one is detecting a wrong reading, the fuel/air mix is automatically adjust. The Knock sensors detect vibration from when the fuel is burning. If the sensor detects a 'bang' when it shouldn't be there it alerts the ECM (cars brain) to adjust the timing sequence. Wrong readings cause the ECU to adjust the fuel/air mixture to the wrong setting causing rough engine running. The thermostat code is for the wiring to the coolant thermostat sensor.

I would order a gasket kit, (new head if it is an interference engine) cam belt kit, including water pump and idlers. The G8 is a non interference engine. Both 3 and 4 cylinder. Then when you have repaired it, you will have the correct items to put it back together.

Amanda, Sorry for your'e situation. Here's a link with pictures..the fuses are color coded so you can't go wrong there. There are standard and Mini fuses all are color coded. The relays have #s on them if your'e going to Autozone or whom ever they can assist you so you will know what relay goes where. You can always print off a copy on the link so they'll mark which relay goes to what. Best to you! And way to go tackling this issue. no they will not Valve float is an adverse condition which can occur at high engine speeds when the poppet valves in an internal combustion engine valvetrain do not properly follow the closure phase of the cam lobe profile. Valve float occurs when the valvetrain gets out of control. It is caused by not having enough Valve Spring Pressure. There are 2 types of valve float: Loft - When the lifter is thrown off the nose of the cam lobe. Bounce - When the valve bounces off its seat, before it settles.

Your local GM service center should be able to print you off a wiring diagram for what you need. It might be easier to see if there is a truck in a local salvage yard and replace the dash harness with a used one

recheck your work --also new doesnt mean free from defects

the meter BLACK LEAD must be connected to a battery NEG lug , then red lead to battery plus lug. see 12.6vdc rested.???? then keep black lead, same AND and move red test lead to all fuseS, key on and head lamps on. BOTH FUSE SIDES MUST BE 12V. OR FUSE IS BLOWN IF ONE SIDE IS DEAD., HL "ON" no need to run the engine head lights are special they work even having no key at all for safety ,wELL until BCM fails. oops, and happens the BCM also fails iF GOOD BCM! due to weak main battery below 10vdc. do HL fail Highs and lows both lamps. does HL fail with hand brake on or off/ (DRL logic) NOT TOLD AT ALL WHAT WORKS ON THE CAR TOO.
