If its an OBDII system try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, then reconnect. The computer should reset and all codes except for code 12 will be deleted, unless the problem still exist, in which case soon as it detects the problem again, it will set the same code again.
When you go into any Limp Modes,
you have to check for codes & diagnose
them
You have repairs to be made & can not
use the car at all, until repaired
Scan Tools are professional tools,costing
many thousands of dollars & you do need them
or yes, you need a shop otherwise
These are two different issues. The window electronic switch needs to be tested to see if you are getting current. If not, may have to replace switch (see if the terminals are clean on the switch & no loose wires). I have same issue just that it is has only failed twice, then after a few minutes I would try again and my window would go back up & haven't had time to check it out. I think I have a ghost living in my car. lol
2nd issue the turn signals: most likely caused by condensation, check all sockets (mine were corroded) unfortunately the moisture still gets into the lens, fine tiny cracks in the lens that is allowing moisture in. By mid morning the condensation has dried and my turn signals work. You might also check the fuse & bulbs first if you get a fast or slow signal indicator on instrument panel. However I have another issue; when I apply the brakes the signals stop flashing in the rear (both turn signals) Either further corrosion or condensation. A mechanic told me it was in the switching of the control indicator at the steering column... I guess when we drive an 18 year old car these things will happen. There are two flasher fuses one in the fuse box near air filter under hood & a fuse box in the trunk, left hand side all the way to the back of the trunk, pull up carpeting on back wall.
I have the same issue, not the keyless entry fobs but the module. It has been too hot to get inside the trunk to pull it out. I was hoping there is just a loose wire and I won't have to go buy a module. I'll keep you posted.
I would say a repair shop & explain things
I would remove both ends of both battery cables
& clean them, then do a voltage drop test on them
with a volt meter
How to do that is on the Internet & You Tube Video
Your just putting your meter leads from the battery in
parallel with the cables & seeing you have no more
than .02 V drop in the cables
The cables can not have any visible corrosion at the ends
or they need to be replaced & you do not want any clamp-on
ends,all OE
The new starter may have to be tested at the parts store
or switched for one that works
You have two scenarios
A large voltage drop before the starter or bad ground side
Second would be a mechanical engine problem that the starter
can not overcome
Next is most likely something you can not do & a repair shop will
be needed
Find out if the timing is off, worn chain, jumped chain etc, valve or lifter
issues, things that would make it difficult for the starter to turn the motor
While it should not be an issue, I know a dozen people will come
here & have you throwing relays at the car
If you can find the starter relay & a similar one switch them
The relay is only for the control side & the starter solenoid power,
not your problem with lack of current thru the solenoid contacts
if ur handbrake works off ur caliper it needs to be turned in clockwise while adding some force I normally use a g clamp and tighten it up as i turn the piston with a waterpump pliers
Did you over heat warning message come on " Urgent shut off engine" or check coolant message? My coolant message came on but once car warmed up, it was late summer. No leakage but coolant level was low; added some coolant. Then it happened again but once car warmed up the check message disappeared. Then a few days later I got the Urgent Shut off Engine message! Thankfully I was able to pull off road and shut down immediately. Had it towed to Caddy shop. My water pump had gone out. New Pump and replaced all hoses. Then a year later check coolant light came on again, once car warmed up, light went off. This time tho a small leak in the radiator. My husbank put in a new radiator. Car has 117K miles and a few weeks ago outside temp 35, running late for work and didn't allow car to warm up but just a minute or two and when I puled away the check coolant light came on; but once the car warmed up (temp gauge needle in center) the light went out. Being the car is 17 years old I try to treat her like a baby and not push her so I do let the engine warm up before driving away. Do you have to add oil between oil changes? This is normal for the Northstar engine; your regular garages or full service stations don't know this; also make sure if you aren't using an authorized Cadillac garage that they put the right amount of oil; they want to put less than what is required. Not sure if this is really a solution more comments than anything... :)
Are you sure the engine is not grounded? Could be the starter relay. To make sure it is not a ground problem use a battery jumper cable and connect the engine to the negative battery post. Also make sure the battery did not lose its charge while working on the belt. Possible key left on.

Is it stuck in the engine "off" position?
1.) Check your car battery. If it's very low or dead, it may be preventing the ignition from unlocking. If it's low or dead, charge it and try again.
2.) If the battery checks out okay, press firmly on the "S" button (sport mode) next to the gear shifter. Surprisingly, that somehow solves the issue sometimes.
3.) If that doesn't work, there may be a problem with the ECM. But try the two steps above first as needed, and if that doesn't work, feel free to post back.
