What repairs are necessary on
Hi,
Please ensure you take your car for the required servicing after the mileage is reach or duration stated and if there are any specific repairs to be done you will be informed dully..
because you car is 3 yrs old does not necessarily mean it may need repairs so take it for servicing and computer inspection to know of any changes that should be made...
check tires for expiring date and replace if necessary.
Check the airbags and take for servicing ..
others would be checked for you when servicing
2008 toyota prius: gas engine
Check the Toyota dealer to see how the immobilizer works on the 2008 Toyota Prius and if the Transmission P Lock Mechanism Abnormal would trip it even after it was corrected.
I know that when welding parts, that the electronic parts can sometimes be damaged if not disconnected before welding.
This is the first time I have heard of the transaxle case needing to be welded due to a crack.
Good luck on this repair.
The car had Castrol oil in it when I bought
It's not necessary to stay with the Castrol brand for the life of the car, although, some technicians say that it's good to stay with the same brand to reduce sludge.
Just make sure the viscosity is right for the weather conditions when you have the oil and filter changed (and lube).
I have my oil changed at Walmart or Sears and I just ask for their Supertech or featured oil, and my Cadillacs seem to run fine on that oil.
Good luck on your oil changes.
When the car is turned
Hiya,
I think you'll find it has always been doing it, but you may not have noticed.
It is perfectly normal and is nothing to worry about. Just means that the immobiliser system is working

Toyota Prius jumps from Drive to Neutral while
We had the same issue in our 2008 prius happen last week. Car slipped out of drive after initial 1-second acceleration three times in a row. Powered the car off and on in between incidents. Toyota shop has not been able to re-create after 100 miles of driving over the last few days. They replaced the shift lever and battery (the potential culprits based on scant research), but no one seems 100% confident about it. According to the Toyota shop, the advice given by oneStan above isn't applicable because "the Prius actually has a transaxle that does not have cables or linkage, it has an electronic shifter. Mounts such as engine or transmission very seldom wear out before 150k miles." We are supposed to pick car up tomorrow but feeling anxious about driving our toddlers around in it after what happened. Would very much appreciate any advice. Thank you.
Prius will not go into drive
Take it right back to the dealer its under warranty. Probably a defective TCU but this vehicle is high voltage do not touch.
Warning light on 2005 prius is on...what might
Hello. The warning light indicates that one or more trouble codes can be read by doing a scan of your vehicle's computer. AAMCO repair shops and some auto parts stores now do these scans for free. Otherwise, a dealership will charge $50 and up. Many times, the only problem is a faulty report or a faulty sensor as opposed to a real issue. When you have the scan be sure to tell the technician to clear and reset your computer. This will remove the warning light, that way if it appears again you know you have an issue. Joe
please rate my answer as very helpful. thank you.
Can I drive my car home ( 50 miles) with the brake
You sure can, but you might be chancing creating a life threatening situation. That light will go on when the level of the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir gets low, as it does eventually even on normal cars. Check the level of the brake fluid. It is probably low, so got some more fluid from Checkers, Auto Zone, or whoever, and fill it to the 'full' level. The light probably will go out. If it loses more fluid on a frequent basis you have a leak somewhere and have to take it to a competent shop and have them find it.
Best of luck!
