Right after oil change my on-board computer display changed dramatically. Cruising range dropped from 370+ to 300 miles. MPG dropped from 20 down to 11! Lost history of previous fillups, etc. I have

Hi, I'm not very familiar with these vehicles, however changing the oil shouldn't make a negative difference to the economy. Is it possible on your vehicle that 'Sequential sport shift' or the 'Mode select transmission' buttons could have been tampered with? Certainly any transmission or performance enhancements would have a negative impact on the MPG immediately. I can't think of any other reasons at the moment.....

Replace rear wiper assembly

The wiper arm has a cover on the left end that pops up after gently spreading the two bottom sides apart. That allows the arm to swing out for cleaning the window or replacing the blade. The wiper blade assembly attaches to the end of the arm . It is pressed in and will pop out with a little force rotating the left side away from the arm. It pops back in with a little push. The arm remains attached to the rotating shaft assembly.I believe you can then replace just the rubber blade and not the whole blade assembly, if that is your fancy.Dave

Passenger side carpet is wet. Where does the water

We had the same problem with our 2008 Highlander straight out of the dealer. The first week we had it the carpets in the front were completely soaked (about 1/2 inch of water). This was due to a factory problem in which the plugs in the floor panels and firewall (panel between the engine and passenger cabin) were faulty and allowed water splashing up against the undercarriage and firewall to enter the passenger cabin. We were the first to notice it, but they did end up recalling all the Highlanders from that batch in our area. In our case the dealer ended up fighting with another company over who's fault it was and they left it out in the sun with wet carpets and the windows rolled up for two weeks before coming to the conclusion that Toyota was to blame (steamed up windows and the smell... ooohhhh the smell....). Since we had just purchased it they eventually gave us a new one and covered our rental cost for the time it took for them to figure it out and order a new one.

Another possibility is that it could be condensation leaking from your air conditioner lines. Once again, a dealer fix unless you know what you're doing and have the time to remove the interior of the car.

Your to do list would be as follows...

1) Try to get it dried up as soon as possible to prevent odors, mold and mildew.

2) Check to make sure that a similar recall has not been issued for your area.

3) If you suspect it's the air conditioner you could try to drive it on a dry hot day with the air conditioner on to see if the water comes back.

In either case, you may have to go to the dealer to get it fixed and they may or may not cover the problem depending on how long you've owned the vehicle. I would try to ge them to cover it though. If they refuse to help and you are the first owner, depending on the problem, and how long you've owned it you could also check to see if it fits under federal lemon laws, which are in place to make sure that auto manufacturers supply a reasonable product to their customers (last resort as this would require court, lawers... big pain in the ****).

I know it's not much, but I hope this helped

Replace water pump

Well the bad news is if you have the 3.5 liter engine, the entire engine assembly needs to be removed in order to change the water pump. If you happen to have the 3.3 liter engine you will need to remove the timing belt in order to get at it. Need to know what your engine size is before I can help any further
