What are the probable causes for DTC P0420?
Well, code 420 means the computer does not think the cat is working to spec.
The computer compares data from each O2 sensor - the rear sensor should be staying on the lean side or switching very slowly, while the front sensor switches back and forth between rich and lean several times per minute. If the cat is not working both sensors would read close to the same.
So if you replaced both sensors, and you still get code 420, the cat may be blown out.
A mechanic would use a scanner to watch the data stream from each sensor, and measure the surface temp of the cat.
I change both o2 sensor but the code is still coming on the wires ok what can be the problem
Usually an O2 sensor code is a result of another problem. Your problem is coming from the motor & the sensors are just reading it. Bad wires, coils, plus, vacuum leaks even low coolant or running hot will give you O2 sensor codes. Sounds likes you should start on wires themselves. Is it running rough? Missing? Check the plug wires & coils first. Disconnect the batt to clear the codes & take it from there. Good Luck
